24.01.2022 CENTENARY OF AIR FORCE The Royal Australian Air Force today (31 March 2021) marks 100 years of service to Australia with commemorative events in Canberra and at Air Force bases across the nation and overseas. Chief of Air Force, Air Marshal Mel Hupfeld, AO, DSC highlighted the evolution from biplanes to an air force characterised by high-tech capabilities that delivers effects not only in the air, but across all domains including space and cyber.... Air Marshal Hupfeld said the current force is a tribute to generations of dedicated men and women and their remarkable ingenuity and resilience. In our first 100 years, in conflict, peacekeeping, search and rescue, disaster relief and humanitarian assistance, Air Force developed a reputation within our nation and among our global partners for courage, perseverance and overcoming adversity. We consistently deliver air power well above the weight of an air force our size, Air Marshal Hupfeld said. More than 350,000 Australians have served in Air Force since 1921 and 11,191 have died in service during that timewe will always remember their service and sacrifice. Today, Air Force works with Navy, Army, Defence civilians, other government departments, Defence Industry and our international partners. These relationships have always been important for our success and will be crucial as we face the strategic challenges of an increasingly complex and competitive environment. As we commence our second century, it is our duty to preserve our proud legacy and to maintain our enduring commitment to supporting Australia. Centenary commemorative events include the presentation of a new Queen’s Colour for the Royal Australian Air Force by the Governor-General His Excellency, General the Honourable David Hurley, AC, DSC (Retired) and a flypast of more than 60 current and historic aircraft over Lake Burley Griffin, Canberra. 20.01.2022 The Festival of Small Halls is returning to Goulburn with the Autumn Tour taking place at St Saviour’s Cathedral Hall on Friday, 16th April. Festival of Small Halls is a series of tours that takes the best folk and contemporary acoustic artists, and sends them on the road to tiny halls in communities all over Australia. The Festival will feature performances by feel-good ukulele strummer and drummer, Bobby Alu, and two-piece indie pop-rock band, This Way North.... Local musician and Hume Conservatorium scholarship holder, Callum White, will also perform at the Festival. Callum’s passion for performing and learning to play instruments such as the mandolin and banjo will see him perform an acoustic set on stage. Presented by veteran festival producers Woodfordia Inc., the twenty-first edition of the much- loved, not-for-profit music tour is taking on a packed tour schedule with the finest of home- grown talent visiting twenty community halls across New South Wales. Festival Producer, Eleanor Rigden, is excited to see the Festival returning to small halls throughout regional NSW, especially considering the ever changing and challenging events environment. We were so inspired and impressed by the way communities have been able to adopt these new conditions and not shy away from the extra hoops they have had to jump through to keep their people safe. Towards the end of 2020 when we got back on the road, hall committees and local groups really stepped up, realising it was more important than ever to support their communities to safely come together after a year of difficulty and isolation, said Ms Rigden. Admission: $15 Adult, $12 Concession (Pensioners/Seniors/Children Under 16). Tickets are available via smallhalls.iwannaticket.com.au or at the door on the night.

03.01.2022 Goulburn corrections staff who did not return to work at Goulburn prison on Saturday will face disciplinary action. A motion passed at the POVB Sub-branch at Goulburn Corrections Centre on Friday, 26 March 2021, led to industrial action by staff who promptly withdrew by their labour. CSNSW lodged a section 130 dispute notification (IRC Matter No. 2021/00085056) with the NSW Industrial Relations Commission (IRC). The matter was conciliated by Chief Commissioner Constant at 11....30am on Friday. After arguments from both parties, no resolution could be reached and a certificate of failed conciliation was issued. Arbitration commenced at 2:30pm Friday. Submissions were made by CSNSW and Public Service Association (PSA). The parties were again unable to reach agreement in regards to the dispute. Subsequently Chief Commissioner Constant issued Orders against the PSA with staff ordered to return to work with immediate effect. On Saturday, 27 March 2021, Commissioner Severin wrote to the PSA and indicated that disciplinary action will commence against any staff members who are in defiance of the Industrial Relations Commission’s order. The PSA’s ability to appeal a finding or penalty imposed under these circumstances will be complicated because the member will be seen as defying an order of the Commission hearing the appeal. CSNSW has indicated that it is willing to negotiate on this matter but cannot enter negotiations until the orders of the IRC have been complied with.
