However, it is possible to have atrial fibrillation without realising it. The importance is in the high risk of stroke from the condition. The clinic is inviting people 65 years and over, who have not been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation, and have not had an ECG in the past year to make an appointment for testing. This will include an ECG (which records the electrical activity of the heart) followed by a consultation with one of our GPs who will also do a full cardiovascular assessment.

07.01.2022 We are asking anyone who has been to the Sydney Northern Beaches (or in contact with someone from that area) within the last fortnight to not enter the clinic at this stage. Also any patients with acute respiratory symptoms should arrange for a phone consultation in the first instance. A lot of us are probably exhausted with having to take Coronavirus precautions. However, the current outbreak in Sydney could easily get out of control, and it is important for us to remain as vigilant as ever. Wishing all of our patients once again all the best for Christmas, but above all to stay safe at this time.

05.01.2022 Here is our team of GPs who were recently featured in the Goulburn Post. Now is a good time to book in for a check up before Christmas. Just a reminder that online appointments via HotDoc can be made using the Book Now button at the top of our Facebook page. This week we have sadly had to farewell Dr Qureshi who has had to return to Sydney on account of family commitments. We thank him for his time in Goulburn and wish him all the best in the future.

05.01.2022 The clinic is pleased to announce that we have been chosen to give the Covid-19 vaccine. We are waiting for a starting date and will publish that when available. We will be using the Astra Zeneca vaccine which has been thoroughly tested and extremely safe. Two injections are given 12 weeks apart, which has been found to increase the effectiveness to 85%. We will be starting with patients 70 years plus, as well as younger people with certain at risk medical conditions. The vaccine is free of charge. The flu injection is not recommended to be given on the same day, but can be given 2 to 4 weeks after the first Covid injection. Our friendly GPs are happy to answer any individual questions about immunisation, either by face-to-face appointment or over the phone consultation.

02.01.2022 We are pleased to welcome back Dr Ahmed Al-Maliky who will be commencing as a GP on 5th January. Many people will remember Dr Al-Maliky who previously worked in Goulburn from 2009 to 2012. He has since gained valuable experience working in various parts of New South Wales, most recently in Parkes. Dr Al-Maliky has now decided to return to Goulburn as the best place to raise a family. He is well versed in all aspects of general practice, and is moving here to live permanently with his wife and children. At the Goulburn Medical Clinic we understand the importance of continuity of care. Our recruitment of Dr Al-Maliky is part of our policy over the last couple of years to have doctors who will be here for the long term. Please call the clinic for an appointment.
