25.01.2022 Very welcomes news today with Minister for Agriculture Jaclyn Symes announcing the Victorian Government will fund the GMV Fruit Fly Area Wide Management Project for an additional 12 months. This means we can continue to work with the community, government and industry to ramp up the fight against Queensland Fruit Fly and protect the region’s horticultural industry, domestic markets, our exports and jobs. #NoFliesOnUs Moira Shire Council Campaspe Shire Council Strathbogie Shire Council Greater Shepparton City Council Berrigan Shire Council

16.01.2022 Keep an eye on the sky over Cobram each Tuesday during fruit season to catch a glimpse of the fruit fly plane. The weekly release of sterile male Queensland fruit flies starts again for the season on 15 September 2020. Each week over 2 million steriles are released over Cobram as a key part of our fight against QFF. 2020 is the second year of a 3 year Sterile Insect Technology (SIT) pilot and results last year were amazing! So go SIT and remember to keep an eye out for delicious locally grown Cobram fruit in coming weeks.

13.01.2022 Help protect against Qfly. Fruit fly can infest a wide variety of fruit and vegetable found in home gardeners including tomatoes, citrus and stone fruit. 09.01.2022 Spring is here and the fruit fly are back o the attack! It's time to get your traps refilled and back in place. Clean up any late fruiting crops, like citrus, and think about how you are going to treat fruit fly if they show up in your traps.
09.01.2022 Please help to manage Qfly by picking up your fallen fruit. This is a really bad year for Qfly so many people who have not had Qfly for some time have it worse than ever. Please pick all affected fruit, solarise it...that is,, put it in plastic bags, seal the bags tightly, leave the bags in the sun for 4 or 5 days. The heat in the bags will kill any eggs, maggots or Qfly that are in the bag. Then simply put the sealed bags in your rubbish bin. Better in your bin than in your compost as it will be such a mess that it may attract other critters that you would rather not have in your garden. Moira Shire Council
