18.01.2022 WHAT A DAY AT POIDEVIN OVAL! Our Mens first and second grade sides have completed a dominant season, both going through the year undefeated!... Firsts held off long-time rivals the Hall Bushrangers in a hard fought 23-14 victory, while Seconds fought back to run over the top of ADFA 39-12. It's a fitting reward for two teams who have overcome such a disrupted season to bring home the silverware. This afternoon our Women's team was also in action, but their season ended a week early, going down fighting against a strong Uni Norths Owls outfit. #RedsForever #RedsTogether #Lessssgoooo #BigDance
17.01.2022 Teams are in! It's a huge day for our U15s and U16s who will both take on St Edmund's in their respective grand finals. Go well, boys, and bring it home!... Meantime, our First Grade will be looking to secure a spot in the grand final when they host RMC, with our Second Grade guaranteed a grand final berth following a forfeit by Easts. Our Women's side are aiming to finish the regular season strongly when they travel to Canberra to play Royals, and our U18s will be out for a bit of fun against Wests. #redstogether #RedsForever #lessssgoooo

14.01.2022 Essential restrictions and procedures for this weekend's Grand Finals.
13.01.2022 On Saturday, five Goulburn Rugby players were selected for the Brumbies Rugby Country women’s side to take on a select City side at RMC’s Portsea Oval. In dreadful conditions, the ladies battled it out, with City claiming a 17-0 victory in the torrential rain. In a match featuring a number of Brumbies incumbents, Dirty Reds Pearl Rakete, Bella Sheen, Jordan Brooker, Chloe Waddell and Kelsey Betts pulled on the Country jersey and acquitted themselves well against the best th...at City had to offer. The match serves as a trial for the upcoming Chikarovski Cup, with the ACT to compete under the Canberra Women’s President’s XV banner against Sydney Gold, Sydney Blue and NSW Country over the next two weekends. Goulburn was further represented off the field, with coaches David Anable, Ash Mewburn and manager Megan Penning all part of the Country set up. Photos: Pete Oliver / @petevoon

08.01.2022 Luke McCue, the number 4 for our under 18s side this year, tragically died last Sunday in a car accident. Luke was a talented rugby player and an incredible young man. He received the coaches award for 2020 and was well-respected and highly-regarded by his team and all who met him. He always showed impressive leadership amongst the team, as well as a ready smile. It wasn’t just on the rugby field where Luke excelled; earlier this year he was named the Crookwell Young Citize...n of the Year at the Upper Lachlan Shire Australia Day Awards. Luke recently graduated from Trinity Catholic College in Goulburn and had accepted an auto-electrician apprenticeship at Lee and Thomas. Luke's funeral will be held on Wednesday 30 December at 11am at St Mary’s Church of Crookwell in Wade Street. Vale, Luke.
07.01.2022 For our supporters who can’t get to Queanbeyan to watch our Women’s team take on the Whites - you can now watch the live stream instead! Live from 4.45pm.

Our first grade side have continued their unbeaten run and will now face long time rivals Hall Bushrangers in the grand final. Meantime, our Women's side will meet Uni Norths in a couple of weeks in the semi final. Congratulations to our U16s side, who made the grand final and went down bravely against a strong St Eddie's side, on a big season. Looking forward to seeing you in years to come. #RedsTogether #RedsForever #lessssgoooo
06.01.2022 Summary of the GRU 2020 AGM
06.01.2022 The post-season rep honours continue, with our very own Pearl Rakete selected for the ACT President’s XV side to contest the Chikarovski Cup over the next two weekends. Go well, Pearly!
05.01.2022 It's been the story of the Goulburn Women's Dirty Reds' season. Huge on heart, able to mix it with the best in the competition, but in the end just not enough points on the board. Saturday’s 45-7 loss to Royals was Goulburn’s biggest defeat to date, but the scoreboard genuinely doesn’t reflect the game, nor the considerable turn around in the second half. Goulburn had next to no possession for much of the first half, warming their shoulders up against repeated Royals attack...s. The already short-staffed Reds hit a big hurdle early on, when energetic front rower Dani McDonald went down with a nasty shoulder injury. This left the Goulburn side with no reserves on the bench and a reshuffle of positions. Remember that heart? It showed. This was without a doubt Goulburn’s most physical match of the year. The Royals players were big, powerful and battered the Goulburn line, at times breaking through. The Reds’ heads never dropped, and they only improved as the game went on. Flyhalf Elly Hazelton crossed for the Reds’ only try of the day deserved reward for the stand off who has been in excellent form following her return from injury. Front row wrecking ball Kelsey Betts was outstanding for the Reds in defence, and when the Reds had the ball was a near certainly to cart it up into the Royals’ line. Betts earned the three Best and Fairest points, with line out queenpin Sass Cudaj and utility forward Olivia Howe sharing two points each. Howe also received the Players’ Player award for a huge hearted effort around the ground, despite copping a nasty knock to the ribs early on. The one point in the B&F count was shared by the ever-reliable Pearl Rakete and Hazelton. The Reds will now have a week off before they take on Uni Norths in the semi final on 10 October. Royals Women 45 defeated Goulburn Dirty Reds Women 7 (Hazelton try, Ross con).
05.01.2022 A reminder, our AGM will be held tonight at 6pm at Poidevin Oval.
04.01.2022 If there’s a game that got away from the Goulburn Dirty Reds Women, it was this weekend’s clash against the Tuggeranong Viqueens. The Viqueens may have claimed a 19-5 victory, but it’s genuinely a match the Reds could have snatched. There’s been a theme throughout the Reds’ season in 2020. The effort has been faultless, the desire has been there. But at times the skills have let them down, often crucially as they’ve got their foot on the opposition’s throat. Poor ball handl...ing and high tackling cost the Reds, as the powerful Viqueens runners would consistently make metres after contact. When Goulburn had the ball, the Reds would get into a good position after three or four phases, ready to strike and then promptly drop the ball or turn it over. Onto the good stuff. When the Reds did get a roll on, it brought them points. The forwards rumbled on towards the line, and the Reds got on the board through prop Paige Penning from a well-timed pick and drive. Amelia Vitek’s conversion clanged off the upright. On a hot day at Tuggeranong, the Reds’ forwards were big on heart, but short on subs. The majority of the pack played the full game in the Saturday afternoon heat, but toiled away and didn’t give up. The Reds mixed up this attack with some smart kicking play, with fly half Elly Hazelton showing great control off the boot and soccer player-turned-flanker Vitek also putting in some clever kicks in general play. These kicks were supported by the backline busting themselves in the chase and putting pressure on the Viqueens. However, the star of the day was Maddy Tooth, who was a powerhouse in attack and defence. The young centre pulled off some bell ringing hits, to the point it seemed some of the Viqueens’ attackers would change their line if they saw Tooth ahead of them in the defensive line. As with last week, the Reds conceded a late long-distance try to blow the score out when tired legs couldn’t prevent the Viqueens from pushing the score out to 19. Unsurprisingly, Tooth picked up the three points in the best and fairest count, along with players’ player. Prop Kelsey Betts collected two B&F points, with hooker Olivia Howe and the tireless Pearl Rakete each sharing one point. It’s likely the tackle pads will be getting a workout at training this week, as the Reds look to finish the regular season off strongly against Royals by lowering their shoulders and decking their opponents. Their last match was a washout, so it’ll be the two sides’ first encounter with each other, before the finals begin. Goulburn 5 (Penning try) defeated by Tuggeranong Viqueens 19.
03.01.2022 Deserved recognition for one of our most consistent performers. Well done Pearl! #RedsTogether #RedsForever #LessssGoooo
02.01.2022 If there was a game that summed up 2020 for the Goulburn Dirty Reds women, it was Saturday’s semi final loss against Uni Norths. Effort - tick Heart - tick Enthusiasm - tick Execution - not quite a tick. ... It feels like a copy and paste from previous matches. The Reds would hold long periods of dominance, building pressure until a mistake or turn over would release the valve and the Owls would make them pay. The home side’s first three incursions into the Reds’ 22 yielded points, and blew any momentum away that Goulburn was trying to build. Paige Penning was outstanding for the Reds. The bloodied and battered skipper led from the front with a number of trademark runs, and even managed to pilfer the ball on more than one occasion. For a team making the enormous step up from the development 10s competition into the Premier Division, they showed they were no easy beats. Each week the side improved as they gelled and learned, taking on the ACT’s best each week. Coaches Ash Mewburn and Rob Sheekey should be proud of both the team, and their own efforts in imparting their knowledge. If the squad can stay together next season and beyond, they are a genuine chance of shaking up the ACT competition. The team should be in no doubt of their abilities, and with some more match experience under their belt, they’ll be a force to come for years. Goulburn Dirty Reds Women 0 def by Uni Norths Owls 43.
02.01.2022 Teams are in! All four teams head to Canberra tomorrow for what should be some cracking matches. ... Our men and women all take on Uni Norths Owls at ANU North Oval - Second Grade at 10.55am, First Grade at 12.15pm and our Women's team at 1.40pm. Meantime, our U18s will look to finish our day on a high when they play at St Edmund's at 3pm. As always, a big thank you to our major sponsor, the Hibernian Hotel Goulburn, for their incredible support for our club. #RedsTogether #RedsForever #LessssGoooo
