15.01.2022 In response to Very High and Severe fire danger expected in parts of the state tomorrow, a Total Fire Ban has been declared for southern and northern municipali...ties from 2am tomorrow morning (4 Jan 2019) until 2am on Saturday (5 Jan 2019). A total fire ban means no fires can be lit in the open air for any purpose including for cooking and heating. Tomorrow its going to be hot and its going to be windy. We would ask landowners to reconsider the need to undertake activities like mowing lawns, slashing grass and any other activities that may cause sparks and result in unintended consequences. The total fire ban applies to the following municipalities: South: Brighton, Central Highlands, Clarence, Derwent Valley, Glamorgan-Spring Bay, Glenorchy, Hobart, Huon Valley, Kingborough, Sorell, Southern Midlands, Tasman. North: Break ODay, Dorset, George Town, Launceston, Meander Valley, Northern Midlands, West Tamar.
