15.01.2022 Govindas Community In our conscious effort to be a sustainable restaurant we have introduced bio containers, you can now find these in store at Burleigh Heads! ‘’? The small containers and lids are commercially compostable and are lined with a bio plastic called PLA. PLA is a type of plastic made from renewable resources such as cornstarch rather than nasty petro-chemicals. ... The medium and large sized containers are made from sugar cane pulp which means they can be composted at your own home. Checkout our story to learn more! For now our 100% recyclable plastic containers will still be available for use at your discretion! If you will be travelling or storing our food for more than 30 minutes we would suggest opting for these containers due to leakage. 14.01.2022 As it is World Environment Day today, lets talk about sustainability! Even as a small business we strive to minimise our footprint. We are always looking for ways to improve our waste management plans and sustainability, but here are some things we currently implement to do our part: We are a pure Vegetarian/Vegan restaurant Our veggie waste goes to the Cows at our farm ... When natural production allows, we use organic vegetables from our farm, otherwise we support QLD farms for our fresh produce We currently get a 1/4 of our power from solar energy, hopefully one day we can be 100% solar powered! Whilst we are not yet able to use plant based/alternative packaging due to the nature of food we serve, we use Australian Made, 100% recyclable containers that are dishwasher and microwave safe. So feel free to wash and then reuse our containers. Alternatively, wash and put the containers into the yellow council bins to be recycled! All cutlery, cups, napkins and straws we use are compostable Currently implementing an effective recycling system and incorporating commercial composting to our waste management plan Comment below what you have implemented into your own household or business @ Gold Coast, Queensland
