25.01.2022 Entries will open for GOW 2020 this Sunday 15th March at 6:00pm. Places limited so don't miss out. Race date is 24 October. All entry details on the race website at GOW100s. com (sorry facebook doesn't like the link). Pre registration entries available to 3 x time GOW finishers, volunteers from GOW2019 and last years solo winners. Robbo having way too much fun last year. Photo credit - Malcolm Gamble

24.01.2022 This nicely sums up the day in 3 & 1/2 minutes. Great footage from the Trailsplus team.

23.01.2022 Did someone say there was a bit of mud on the course? Surprised there was any left behind after first place male Tony Lopez was done! And these used to be a nice pair of Hokas (George - sweep). While others were so impressed they wanted to record the moment (Damian 2nd male).

20.01.2022 All of us at GOW want to extend our thoughts from lockdown Victoria to our kiwi cousins in semi-lockdown New Zealand-Aotearoa. NZ has been the envy of most of the world for your success and compassionate leadership throughout the pandemic. You have given us hope that it can be eliminated. Hold your nerve and you can get back there again. Stay safe. https://thenewdaily.com.au//08/14/nz-auckland-coronavirus/

20.01.2022 Getting lots of enquiries about what is happening with GOW this year. Plans are well underway for the full GOW to return on 23 October 2021. Like all returning events, there will be some modifications this year to ensure compliance with COVID-19 requirements. Entries will open a little later this year to allow more time for certainty and easing of restrictions and permit implications. The new GOW website is up and running with a few minor additions still to come. Unfortunately facebook doesn't like it so I can't link directly here but go to www.GOW100s dot com. Stay safe and looking forward to seeing people out on the trail again.

18.01.2022 I'm not big on posting ads but this one is pretty cool and Hoka One One were a major supporter of GOW2019 so I think this fits nicely here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fn8ihIQPTic&feature=youtu.be

11.01.2022 The dust is settling, or should I say the mud is drying on GOW2019. There were plenty of stories about adventures out on the trail with mother nature turning on a show. Without the traditional post-race breakfast we didn't get to hear all the war stories so feel free to share them here. Meanwhile, the date for GOW2020 has been set: Saturday 24th October 2020. Watch out for entry opening date as with so many runners keen to come back and see the full course, entries will be ...tight next year. More pics to come but this is one from on-course photographer Michelle Knoll:

09.01.2022 On course photos from Michelle Knoll are coming, but here are a few who you might recognise.

09.01.2022 All runners home safely after experiencing the full gamut of GOW weather. Just a few (7) DNFs and 1 x DQ. Exhilarating weather conditions and raging and a more than healthy dose of mud made for some happy runners. Results are available here: https://www.trailsplus.com.au/gow2019/

08.01.2022 A few more pics from Michelle Knoll of regulars at GOW.

07.01.2022 Entries for GOW2020 open today, Sunday 15th, at 6:00pm. GOW is scheduled for October 24, 2020. The world is currently suffering a major public health emergency that is forcing the closure of most big and even some smaller races. The key message from health authorities is to practice social distancing to avoid the spread of the virus. While trail races by their very nature are perfect for social distancing, the interactions at registration, briefing and especially at aid stati...ons still create a high risk for virus transmission. Given the current uncertainty about how bad or how long the pandemic will run, we considered postponing the opening of GOW entries until the situation was stable and we could be sure that we would be safe to hold the race this October. But race planning takes many months, both for organisers and runners. So, for the race to happen this year we need to push ahead with planning, optimistic that GOW will be on this October. Meanwhile, we will continue to monitor the situation and will reassess the viability of the race in late June and if cancellation becomes necessary you will be refunded minus the administrative costs. We hope you decide to still support GOW and we look forward to seeing you this October. We are all in this together, stay safe and look after yourselves, look after your family and look after your community. While there are no certainties in life, we will be doing our very best to give you a goal to train for and a race to remember come October 24, and what better place to do that than on the Great Ocean Walk. Come join us at GOW100s .com Pic credit: Mal Gamble

07.01.2022 Sharing this from a post set-up by Dale Chircop who has co-ordinated a bunch of Victorian race directors to donate race entries to raffle off and raise money for the CFA. This is a great display of trailrunning solidarity and GOW is proud to be associated with this community. Dear Runners of Australia In response to the current fire situation around Australia we would like to raise money for the CFA Public Fund, which funds volunteer leadership and development training.... SoLET’S HAVE A RAFFLE. In partnership with race directors across Victoria we have been able to put together a prize pool of over 30 races for people to win FREE entry when they purchase tickets to the raffle!! Tickets will be $50 each or three for $100 The raffle will be drawn on Friday 20th January via a live telecast. Winners will be notified in the days following so they may select their prizes promptly. With events ranging from 5km to 217km, spread this post far and wide to include everyone in the running community as there is a race for everyone on the list and to help support our volunteer firefighters. PRIZE POOL: 1st Place = 5 race entries of their choice 2nd Place = 4 race entries of their choice from the remaining races after previous winner has chosen 3rd Place = 3 race entries of their choice from the remaining races after previous winners has chosen 4th Place = 2 race entries of their choice from the remaining races after previous winners has chosen 5th-20th Place = 1 race entries of their choice from the remaining races after previous winners has chosen PRIZES: Afterglow Trail Run Bellarine Sunset Run Berry Long Run Blue Light Run 18km Maldon Bogong2Hotham Brimbank Park Urban Trail Run Buffalo Stampede DownUnder135 Duncan's Run Goldrush Trail Run GOW100 Halloween Howler Trail Run Macedon Trail Run Maribyrnong Valley Park- Backyard Ultra Maroondah Dam Marysville Marathon Festival Mirrim Wurnit Oscar's/Archie's Hut2Hut Peaks & Trails Phillip Island Running Festival Princess Park Running Festival Razorback Run Riverina Trail Run Series Entry Rock Around The Clock Trail Run Rokeby Run Rollercoaster Run Sharpy's Beer Run Surf Coast Century Surf Coast Trail Marathon The Tan Urban Trail Run Three Bays Running Festival Portland 60km Trail Running Series Gold Runner Entry Unbreakable Mountain Trail Run Warburton Trail Festival Wonderfalls Trail Run You Yangs Trail Running Festival Northburn 100 Mt Difficulty Ascent As a raffle winner you should consider when picking your prize that some races may have qualifying standards you need to meet. 03.01.2022 The recent developments in Victoria’s COVID-19 status and the uncertainty that this has created have forced me to make a difficult decision. It is with a heavy heart that I am cancelling GOW for 2020. An email has gone out to all entrants tonight offering the choice of a roll-over to GOW2021 or a refund. While overall the covid situation in Australia appears to be heading in the right direction, Victoria is now suffering significant community transmissions leading to a slowi...ng and some reversal in the unlocking of the state. Although disappointing, these restrictions are a necessary process for public safety given the increase in infections and I respect the government’s decision. COVID-19 is a major disruption to our way of life. It will continue to be a disruption for a considerable length of time. With the next review of restrictions in Victoria is not planned until mid-July it will be too late for planning and organisation to start for GOW even if it could go ahead. With the current resurgence in infections, it is likely that restrictions will continue at the current level for some time yet. As a consequence, I have made the final decision to cancel GOW for 2020. Cancelling the race is a hard thing to do as I know entrants would have been looking forward to it and hoping that it could go ahead but you should know that I am equally disappointed. At the end of the day GOW is just a race and people’s health, safety and wellbeing are far more important. Many thanks. Stay safe and healthy. Andy Hewat, Race Director

03.01.2022 Apparently it is a tad cold along the Great Ocean Road at the moment. Something to take your mind off lock-down.

03.01.2022 Photos by Michelle Knoll are now up on the GOW website under Pics 2019 (search GOW100s as can't link here). There are some great pics and Michelle has really captured the essence of the day so we hope you enjoy reflecting on your big day out. Gotta love this one.
