25.01.2022 The Australian dollar is back up again after giving everyone a scare who has booked an overseas holiday on its strength. Seems to be another day another strike relating to travel services. Another example of the importance of travel insurance this week as a very unlucky woman from Newcastle found out the hard way; and you would be forgiven for thinking it was still winter in Sydney. In other news early birds to Europe are still going strong and the best opportunity to score a great deal for travel in 2012 - get in before you miss out!

25.01.2022 We here are Goway Travel are particularly fond of number 7 - can you blame us? But we do acknowledge one extra particular commandment - you can never apply set commandments to travel (ok so we are aware we have just contradicted ourselves). The point being whilst travel etiquette is one thing; much of travel is about pushing the boundaries and no one experience should ever be the same again.

21.01.2022 Air Asia X announced this week its new services out of Sydney with some dirt cheap fares to Asia and beyond - seems a bit strange to us when the taxi fare to the airport is more expensive than a one way flight to Phuket! Thankfully 2012 has so far started off a fare bit slower than 2011 and we are hoping for a great year ahead without the tragedies of last year. So what's your number one destination of 2012 - we're thinking Gabon, the former French colony is practically ignored by visitors to Africa yet boasts some amazing destinations.

17.01.2022 The recent grounding of the Qantas fleet highlighted the importance of travel agents. When Qantas grounded their fleet many passengers struggled to find accurate information and struggled to get a hold of someone who could assist them with adjusting their flights, rebooking onto another airline or adjusting hotel and tour reservations. Countless agents that I have spoken with came in on their days off; provided assistance to countless passengers and above all - were accessibl...e and could give clear information. Counter that with a story we heard regarding a passenger who had made their own booking and was on hold to Qantas for 8 hours!!! We always hope that these interruptions don't happen but unfortunately it is a reflection of the world we live in; in 2011 there have been an above average number of disruptions from floods, to political unrest, to earthquakes to industrial disputes etc etc We firmly believe the Australian Federation of Travel Agents moto "Without a travel agents you're on your own".

Over this period, February 29 falls 13 times on a Sunday, Tuesday, or Thursday; 14 times on a Friday or Saturday; and 15 times on a Monday or Wednesday." For everyone feeling a bit cheated that they are working an extra day this year without any additional pay - spare a thought for all those 'leaplings' out there who only get to celebrate their actual date of birth every four years!
