23.01.2022 Have you noticed our newest addition? Our antique piano is available to our families and children to play at any time. We only ask that you fill our neighbourhood with the sounds of joy!

19.01.2022 We wanted to offer our families something a little different, something that saw them engage in their children's learning within the service. What better than a community library? We are pleased to announce the Discovery House Community Library is officially open and is already a success!

18.01.2022 To foster a greater understanding of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture within our service, we posed the question to our educators and families asking them what recognition means to them. From the responses received we hope to embed a deeper Indigenous curriculum to better support our children's understandings.

10.01.2022 Yesterday was Gowrie Discovery House’s 1st Birthday. We have been so fortunate to build a beautiful community in partnership with our families and celebrated this with our children.

06.01.2022 We have been so lucky to build amazing relationships within our community, just like the one we have built with Grant who works within the IP building. Grant has offered his time on a weekly basis to introduce short music classes to our children! Check out the video from today’s music class in which the children explored the inne works of a piano.

05.01.2022 What does Reconciliation mean to us at Gowrie Discovery House?

04.01.2022 It is extremely important that we build connections with other educators within our community, so that our practices lead our children to the best possible learning outcomes. We have had an amazing opportunity to network with the team at The Y Gungahlin and look forward to a continued partnership with limitless possibilities.

03.01.2022 Well, it has definitely been a while since our last Team Tuesday post, and we still have more amazing educators in which we have not yet show cased. Please meet our amazing casual educator Xanthia! I have been working at gorwie discovery house since June of last year, and I’ve loved working here since day one. As the centres causal I move throughout all the rooms and have a special connection with both the children and staff in each room (I promise I don’t have a favourite).... I have been working in childcare for 2.5 years after studying my Cert III at my high school here in Canberra. Alongside working in childcare I studied primary education at UC for two years, but while on a placement at a school I realised that I actually have a passion for inclusion and changed my bachelor to occupational therapy. I love working here at discovery house, my favourite part of the day is definitely arriving at working and being greeted by all the children having morning tea. I am also a big reader outside of work, so I love to read stories with the children so that’s definitely another favourite part of my job. I feel very lucky to be able to work at discovery house with all the other amazing staff, and of course the children! See more
