21.01.2022 Last week our Hornsby Early Learning Centre had their end of year celebration. Educators, children and families joined together for a range of delicious food as they reflected on the year that's been and what they are looking forward to in the new year. It's been a huge year of growth and learning and we hear it was a terrific celebration. We look forward to seeing what 2020 brings for all our children, families and services.

21.01.2022 On Friday 22nd November a group of children from Meadowbank Early Learning Centre, along with educators Shirley and Mel, enjoyed a morning in the new purpose-built gallery on campus looking at artwork created by Meadowbank TAFE students. Children took note of the different ways the artists had created their pieces of work. They observed portraits, abstract art, sculptures, paintings, drawings and photography. During the visit, children took turns choosing their favorite piece... and explaining why they found that piece creative. There were many thought-provoking comments like Khotolon who said about an Indigenous art piece They look real, like their eyes are sad and make me feel sad. Using these conversations and ideas, the children and educators returned back to the service and used materials to create their own sculptures. This was a valuable and rich learning experience and the children and educators can’t wait to return back to the gallery for the end of year final display. See more

17.01.2022 Recently our Burwood Early Learning Centre had a visit from Roxy at Vivid Dental. Roxy came in and had the children engaged as she introduced Happy Henry the crocodile. She educated the children about brushing twice a day and demonstrated on Happy Henry exactly how to brush top and bottom, front and back and to the count of 5. The children appeared to enjoy practicing their counting skills and then were welcomed to help brush Happy Henry’s teeth with a super-sized toothbrush. This was then followed on with a game of sometimes and everyday foods. This was an enjoyable and educational incursion, the children were even lucky enough to take home a small show bag with further information. Thank you to Roxy and the team at Vivid Dental. We look forward to seeing you again soon with our bright, big and healthy big smiles.

08.01.2022 In this year alone, Gowrie NSW provided childcare access and funding to 2013 children right across NSW. This wouldn't have been possible without our strong collaborative partnerships with both our own Gowrie services as well as external mainstream services. We thank everyone for their ongoing support and look forward to working with everyone again in 2020.

04.01.2022 Incredibly exciting news for our Gowrie NSW Wagga Wagga Early Learning Centre. Belinda, the coordinator at the service put in an application for a grant through Selby & Co (Cecil and Kathleen Toy Memorial Trust Fund ) and have successfully received the grant of $5000. The Memorial Trust Fund has been going since 1985 and this year marks 1 million dollars in donations since 1985. This year they gave away over $94,000 to 15 different charities. Both husband and wife passed awa...y and had no family to pass their life savings onto so they wanted to donate to charities in Wagga to help the Wagga community. They were publicans and had no children of their own and were always heavily involved and supportive in different local charities. Belinda commented saying Gowrie NSW Wagga ELC has been very grateful to have received this kind and generous donation of $5000. The grant will go towards building our educational resources, which will boost our program effectiveness and success. Well done to the team, what an amazing way to end the year and a huge thank you once again to Selby and Co. See more
