24.01.2022 Here are our children enjoying Group Time which is one part of our routine experiences. During this time, we provide consistency for the children as it's important they feel safe and secure. We endeavour to implement routines in a way that is flexible and responsive to each individual child and to the group. This way, routines can be used to support children in their learning rather than disrupting valuable and enjoyable play experiences.

24.01.2022 The Preschool children are continuing to develop their fine motor skills building with nuts, bolts, screws and tools. As they join and take apart the pieces, they transfer skills from the recent electrical pull apart experience. They also explore patterns and basic representations of items such as robots, cars etc.

24.01.2022 As families start to think about school readiness and choosing Pre-School Education for 2020, this is a great government article that talks about what children need to succeed at big school! At Gowrie Lithgow, our Pre-School has a dedicated and experienced Teacher who delivers a program that supports the whole child's learning and development.

22.01.2022 Science is fun. The children at Gowrie NSW Lithgow participated in National Science Week. Science can be a fun part of everyday learning. Science is a process of exploration and discovery. This week the children were able to further develop their learning through testing hypotheses, asking questions, being hand’s on and reporting their results.

17.01.2022 What are we learning from Playing in Sand? Sand play promotes physical development. Eye-hand coordination and small muscle control improve as children learn to manipulate sand accessories. Sand play also promotes social skills. When children work together. Today at the sand table some of our children engaged in dramatic play as they cook. This experience also helps develop mathematical concepts with measuring cups, spoons and containers of variety of sizes and shapes.

16.01.2022 Painting is more than a simple activity. It is a way for children to express themselves in their own special way. Painting also helps children use their senses, express their emotions and explore colour. Most of the children at Gowrie Lithgow enjoy a good messy painting experience, this allows them to freely express themselves and develop creativity.

13.01.2022 Sun, Sand & Science The children at Gowrie Lithgow enjoyed the warm sunshine, playing in the sand and creating a volcano. The children worked together to make a large sand mound. Then using vinegar, bi-carb soda and food colouring the children, watched as the magic of science made the volcano erupt, the erupting volcano left smiles on the children’s faces and what seemed to be squeals of enjoyment.

12.01.2022 Working together! In the morning 2 children spent time exploring the fire truck. Opening and closing the doors and lifting the ladder, pushing buttons and making the sound of a siren as they pushed it back and forth. Wonderful way to build on their turn taking skills as they are happy to share the same toy. They transfer one context to another as they imitate the sound of the fire truck and build on their language skills. Eylf tells us that children have a strong sense of identity as they learn to interact in relation to others with care, empathy and respect. This is evident as they engage in and contribute to shared play experience.

10.01.2022 Providing the children at Gowrie NSW Lithgow with opportunities to develop the underlying skills necessary to support whole body (gross motor) skills, through obstacle courses. These activities support: balance and coordination, attention and alertness, body awareness, strength and endurance, movement planning.

09.01.2022 Exploring the playground after the rain. FS called me excitedly, S come have a look what we found! He dragged me to a large rock in the garden pointing. Look S a snake. On closer examination we discover it is a blue garden flat worm. The children were fascinated to learn about him and watch him squirm around the bug catcher. The puddles in the playground have also been a magnet for the children. Driving cars and riding bikes through the small rivers. Sploshing and splashing in gum boots. Throwing rocks and sticks and learning about ripples, sinking and floating...and getting bogged. Some things can only be discovered on a wet day outside.

08.01.2022 This week the children pulled a part computers, monitors and keyboards.
