25.01.2022 Here is a nice resource for children to help explain the current health situation.

24.01.2022 Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a safe and relaxing holiday.

21.01.2022 The Spring weather is slowly creeping in and the children have been excited to start planting new herbs and plants just in time for the Spring Season. Our Scarecrow is also receiving a makeover. This has been an embedded practice within our service that the children take care of our garden by weeding and watering the plants regularly. We look forward to sharing the finished environment with you. "Children are born naturalists. They explore the world with all of their senses, experiment in the environment, and communicate their discoveries to those around them."

18.01.2022 The children have continued to experience with different art techniques and it was interesting to observe how they were able to further their own experiences by trying out different resources. While most children were into painting using different colours, another group of children were a lot more into interpretative arts. Watching the children creating a range of drawings from their imagination and with the level of details in their drawings was truly inspiring. 'Every Child is an Artist'- Picasso

15.01.2022 The children at Gowrie Malabar have engaged in a range of learning experiences and discussions to celebrate and further understand the meaning of National Reconciliation Week. Some of these experiences included making damper bread, watching short videos recommended through Reconciliation Australia, reading stories and sharing insights about the Stolen Generation. Educators have been very mindful of using language that helps support children to develop an understanding of our ...nation’s history and why National Reconciliation Week is so significant. Gowrie Malabar are committed to embedding an appreciation of Aboriginal perspectives reflecting on Aboriginal ways of being, knowing and doing as part of everyday practice. Children regularly enjoy Aboriginal Dreamtime stories, listening to Aboriginal music, collecting Lilly Pilly as they learn about bush tucker, exploring Aboriginal art such as face painting, sand painting and tracing Aboriginal symbols with stones and other found natural objects. We all have a role to play when it comes to reconciliation, and in playing our part we collectively build relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures and futures (nrw.reconciliation.org.au) See more

09.01.2022 We have families in need at this difficult time. If you can spare any grocery items for people that have lost their jobs, it would be appreciated. We set up a donation station at the gate. You are welcomed to take some or leave some there. We are here to support each other.... From the Gowrie Malabar Team.

06.01.2022 Despite the weather, our Open Day will still be going ahead tomorrow so make sure you stop by for some coffee, food and engaging experiences for the children. But do bring your gumboots and raincoat. See you all tomorrow.

06.01.2022 The nursery children were invited to participate in an art experience, painting rocks and some eucalyptus leaves. The colors and materials were inspired by our land and the Aboriginal flag. 'The senses, being the explorers of the world, open the way to knowledge'- Maria Montessori.

05.01.2022 Gardening engages all sorts of senses and helps children to develop and recognize them without even realizing. They can feel the texture of the soil, seeds, flowers and petals. They get to smell all the amazing flower scents and see all the colorful petals whilst taking an important and active role in preserving and protecting the environment. With the rainy weather, it has been a bit hard to look after our garden almost everyday. It was fantastic to see the children take initiative today and decide it would be good to clear out all the dead leaves and weed from the garden.

02.01.2022 With the ongoing bush fires continuing across Australia, our community has been touched by the "bravoure" and courage of the firefighters risking their lives on a daily basis to keep us safe. As such, to show our support to all the firefighters across Australia the children alongside their educators decided to create a special painting as a way to thank them for the incredible work they are doing. Our painting started off with the children imprinting their hand as a symbol of... their support to the firefighters. However this week, the children wanted to extend the experience by trying out a new technique. As such, after exploring a couple art techniques we all decided to try out the splash-style painting closely inspired by Jackson Pollock. Our painting started off with the children imprinting their hand as a symbol of their support to the firefighters. The children chose colors that correlated with fires such as red, orange and yellow for the flames and fires ravaging our forests and green for all the trees that were ravaged by the flames. It was interesting to see how they were all using different techniques while splashing the paint all over the fabric. See more
