It’s as important as ever that we all continue to follow the advice to keep us safe and well during this pandemic. We thank you for your continued support, please stay well and continue to look after yourselves.... Welcome back.

21.01.2022 Connection to place and people is at the heart of our children’s program at Gowrie @ The Harbour. We regularly explore our local community and last week, the children from Room Perrin discovered that even when our friends are not in the same physical space we can live shared experiences

20.01.2022 Thank you for the many moments of colour, joy, wonder and learning at Gowrie @ The Harbour during this annual Festival of Lights #Diwali2020

20.01.2022 Enjoying getting to know new friends and buildings strong relationships with their new friends at Docklands Primary School!

19.01.2022 The kindergarten children at Gowrie Carlton North dug deep on 26 January to learn more and acknowledge the Indigenous community. Indigenous perspectives are embedded throughout our programs and this gave us the opportunity to learn more about Australia’s history. Children have since been more curious about Indigenous culture, one child using natural materials in our garden shared I am on Wurundjeri land, I am making Wurundjeri land.

17.01.2022 As part of Children’s Week celebrations, the community at Broadmeadows is exploring different ways that we connect with others. This year's theme is Article 15 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child all children have the right to meet together and connect with others. We've been enjoying daily activities offered online by Hume City Council, had lots of fun and sparked lots of conversations about different types of families and communities. We've been exploring how these groups express themselves when they connect

16.01.2022 "A bewildering walk on Country uncovers a dense undergrowth of learning potential. Child/adult bodies become entangled together in dialogue with the natural world. The world of fungi, once subtle, reveals itself more prominently among the rotting leaves and damp soil. The discovery of Stinkhorn fungi spikes excitement. Its body emerging from a cage is unusual and fabulous. We look closely and wonder what else there is to learn about Stinkhorn and other fungi species? What more can unravel when fungi become an active force in our learning"? Magalie Sanassee, Gowrie Clare Court

14.01.2022 Today the community of #GrowrieBroadmeadowsValley explored the upcoming commemoration of #ANZACday. While there were different conversations across all the classrooms, one common topic was the tradition of ANZAC biscuits! #gowrievictoria #earlychildhoodeducation #wewillremember

14.01.2022 Our children at #GowrieDocklandsKindergarten were excited to welcome the Victorian Minister for Early Childhood, Ingrid Stitt, to open our new service today. The unique design and shared spaces means a close connection with the new Docklands Primary School and together we’re building a strong learning community. At Gowrie Docklands Kindergarten, we offer sessional and integrated kindergarten programs for three- and four-year-olds, complementing our existing programs offered ...at The Harbour on Seafarer Lane. "We know that education begins far earlier than a child’s first step into primary school. This new kindergarten gives Docklands children the early years centre and education they need and deserve." Ingrid Stitt MP, Minister for Early Childhood "We have a proud history of supporting Docklands families at the Harbour. We’re delighted to partner with the Victorian Government and the team at Docklands Primary School to offer quality early learning to even more families." Susan Anderson, CEO Gowrie Victoria #gowrievictoria #earlychildhoodeducation #ece

13.01.2022 We acknowledge the Wurundjeri people on whose land we created our art. Together, the children of Gowrie Carlton North created a tree representing aspects of the land we play and learn on. Using found materials such as clay from the earth, wattle, seedpods and gum leaves from our trees, children aged one to five created nature mobiles, insects, bird nests and eggs all watched over by their representation of Bunjil the Eagle. At the end of this journey of learning, this work will return to the land it was created from. Land that always was always will be Wurundjeri land. Each day the children say from the sun in the sky, to the land where we stand, we say thank you to the Wurundjeri people, for caring for the land where we play #NAIDOCWeek

11.01.2022 We wish a happy Diwali to all those who celebrate. At Gowrie Clare Court, our educators, Raman, Manisha and Somya invited us to celebrate through Indian cooking, dance parties, dressing up and creating rangoli designs to make our foyer beautiful and inviting

09.01.2022 The involvement of rich materials and child directed risk in teaching and learning, fosters opportunities for creativity. Crates and wheels become engines full of speakers and toilets while children become engineers.

08.01.2022 Always was. Always will be. We acknowledge the land that we learn and play on as Wurundjeri people’s land. During #NAIDOCWeek children across Gowrie have explored the idea of connection to earth and the natural environment. We created a mural incorporating the colours of the Aboriginal flag and banners in our foyers. We respectfully collected sticks to create the beginning of Bunjil’s nest. By using our feet we began to understand that when walking on the land, no matter how ...gently, we all have an impact. We used clay to represent our own interpretation of land and what we feel grateful for in this space. We explored ‘Why the Magpie laughs at dawn’, a Noongar dreamtime story from the region where Kelly’s (one of our educators) family and ancestors are from. We worked collaboratively and children have explained their work to their families. We are grateful for the generosity of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who share their knowledge, resources and stories with us.

08.01.2022 At #Gowrie Victoria Broadmeadows Valley we are currently exploring how many different tools work. From screws, nails, hammers, and even bike locks, we explore the cause and effect of our human strength against that of the tools on hand! From the largest hands to the smallest, we are indeed powerful beings! #earlychildhoodeducation

06.01.2022 The community at #GowrieBroadmeadowsValley celebrated #earthday ! Throughout the day we have brainstormed different ways that we can respect the environment and reduce our #carbonfootprint. Today we have reduced use of electrical equipment, relied on natural and alternative lighting sources and planted more trees to support us into the future. Perhaps tonight, you and your family could continue to discuss and turn off a light or two!... #gowrievictoria #earlychildhoodeducation #ece

06.01.2022 Happy Lunar New Year!! , Chúc mng nm mi , ! Our hallways at Gowrie Clare Court have been filled with splashes of red and the sound of drums as a dragon dance weaved through the service, spreading good luck to each other for the year. 05.01.2022 The #Kindergarten children at Carlton North have been curious about the book, Wombat Stew. After many mud stews in the mud kitchen, #children visited their local fruit shop to buy some vegetables and cook their very own ‘Wombat Stew’ on our campfire. What a fantastic opportunity this was to follow children’s enthusiasm for the story book whilst engaging with the local community. #earlychildhoodeducation #gowrievictoria

05.01.2022 At #Gowrie Broadmeadows Valley we've set the children a #Recycle Challenge" encouraging them to work together to create a group piece! It's amazing to watch their imagination and teamwork come together to create some impressive pieces! Here's what the children developed in our latest challenge last week #earlychildhoodeducation

03.01.2022 Learning Intention ‘What is Art?’- One definition of art is a humanistic expression of an idea, world view, or emotion that reflects the culture or social structure of its time. So, what is art to young children? How do they connect to art? How does art make them feel? During our recent excursions, we have been connecting with multiple art forms. It is clear children know that art is deeply personal and can take on many forms. Where to Next? We will continue to explore diff...erent art mediums with the children and ways they can express themselves individually and collectively. We will continue to think and question with art and how it makes us feel. #gowrievictoria #docklands #earlychildhoodeducation

03.01.2022 As we walk with Stony creek, #children notice the differences from when it has rained to now. We listen to stony creek and all the different sounds around us. We enjoy the peacefulness of the water and notice how it bubbles when flowing over the rocks. Paying close attention and getting to know Stony Creek provokes us to continue to learn and live with the world in ethical ways. #gowrievictoria

02.01.2022 In our final Spanish program session for term three, we learnt how to do "Arpilleras" which means burlap (using scraps of fabric to make a colourful picture). We began making our Arpilleras with people and trees. The children named the people by the names of their friends who’ve been at home during the restrictions, so we named our Arpilleras ‘Welcome to Gowrie Broadmeadows’. We greet our friends now coming back and look forward to being together again at Gowrie. To include all of our community, our Arpilleras welcome them in all our different languages. Thank you Sofia our Spanish teacher for inspiring us.

01.01.2022 Watch this ‘spiderweb’ space. As National Recycling Week begins, the Gowrie Broadmeadows community will be busy creating a new art installation in place of the spiderweb. This piece will utilise resources that depict what was different about 2020, celebrating recovery and giving these items a life beyond the bin!
