19.01.2022 GPA Tennis Newsflash A huge congratulations to our Mowbray students who finished in second place overall (out of 26 schools) at the NSTA MASTERS doubles event on Saturday missing out by just one point to share the trophy . So close Lots of medals were also won for those players finishing 1st or 2nd in their groups at both the masters and the regular doubles challenge too. As always I hope they all enjoyed the experience and look forward to competing again next year! ... Personally I’m really proud of them all and can see first hand the hard work we do in practice come to fruition. Lastly, at the academy we try to instill a simple message. Tennis is all about experiences and learning from those experiences. You can either win or you can learn, you can never lose....

10.01.2022 The Wall! The greatest practice partner there has ever been in the history of tennis The benefits are incredible with a little time and patience. Make sure it has a line (use chalk if needed) the height of a tennis net (1.07 meters highest part - make it at least this height to practice clearing the net by a greater margin than that. Can be used for all shots in tennis not just groundstrokes! Some benefits include.... 1. Helps control the speed, placement and distance of ...your strokes to return it back for your next shot. Rally building and control. For this start slow and steady to give yourself time to work on technique of strokes (using the softer red, orange or green ball helps tremendously depending on what level player you are before using the yellow ball) Eventually move further away from the wall to accelerate into your shots once you’re ready. 2. Helps to work naturally on quick footwork around the the ball (adjustment steps) for great positioning and contact point. Happy practicing!
