03.01.2022 Its never too late to start making changes to improve your health.

02.01.2022 The past couple of months have impacted people in so many different ways, both positively and negatively. Aside from the obvious and very stressful financial and health implications of COVID19, there are also the more serious mental health concerns that have arisen or worsened during this time. For some people, this time has been a welcome respite from the hectic pace of our often busy lives, a chance to reconnect with our core family unit and to enjoy some valuable time at ...home, but for others, the lack of connection and social interaction has brought about, or increased feelings of anxiety, loneliness or despair. Wherever you or your loved ones may fall in this spectrum, it is important to acknowledge that you are not alone in how you feel, and making lifestyle changes or seeking help to protect your mental wellbeing is the most courageous decision you can make. Good mental health and wellbeing is the core foundation to our overall health and something we should all be investing more time and effort into. Some positive strategies could be as simple as: Making time to walk or exercise. Enjoying nature, gardening or going to the beach. Keeping well hydrated and making healthy food choices. Getting enough good quality sleep each night. Having better time management and knowing your limits If you have vulnerable loved ones, friends or neighbours, make sure to regularly check in on them. A simple phone call to ask if they are okay could be the only contact they receive that day. Acts of kindness are extremely rewarding and could be someone elses lifeline as you dont know what they are struggling with. For some however, these strategies may not be quite enough. If you are on medication or under the care of a health professional, make sure to regularly check in with them and that your medications are reviewed and monitored. It is very easy to let things slide when faced with unexpected challenges but your mental health should remain your number one priority. If you are not feeling quite like yourself or you notice someone around you not quite themselves, there are numerous counselling support services available to help: Lifeline 13 11 14 Beyond Blue 1300 224 636 Suicide Call Back Service 1300 659 467 Kids Help Line 1800 551 800 MensLine Australia 1300 789 978 1800RESPECT 1800 737 732 Visit the R U OK website for information and services Your local Doctor or GP clinic Seek immediate assistance by calling triple zero (000) if you are concerned for your safety or the safety of others .
