25.01.2022 Just about finished, took a little longer than I expected.

23.01.2022 Just finishing the setup, the Fender Telecaster SCN pickups with the 4 way switch modification sounds awesome especially when in position 4, it puts the neck and bridge in series producing a much fatter tone- not bad for a reasonably well finished budget Tele....

23.01.2022 Finally getting on to unfinished projects, had to strip and restart, so far so good....

23.01.2022 Finished soldering the tremolo claw and jack and replaced the cheap bridge with a Fender one I had lying around. Levelled, re crowned and polished the frets, oiled the fingerboard. Will replace the tuners and string trees with better quality Fender ones also.....

22.01.2022 I bought this guitar from Aldi a few years ago - not a bad product for the price but the electronics and hardware were pretty ordinary so I decided to upgrade and install pickups I had laying around unused. I hand wound these pickups myself to vintage Fender specs and along with new CTS pots etc and a full setup it should sound awesome....Ill post progress pics as I go...

22.01.2022 Well done Dave. Nice to see it go to a good home. Turned this $65 Kit Guitar into something Gig worthy. replaced the electrics with a 50s vintage strat loaded pick guard. Hipshot locking tuners and found a set of Floyd Rose springs which made the trem super smooth. and its Red

21.01.2022 Ive got some work to do before I post my versions Dave.

20.01.2022 I’ve just installed the neck and will fit the pick guard tomorrow, it’s starting to come together. On the volume pot I’ve wired the treble bleed circuit with the resistor in series rather than parallel, schools out on which one is best, I’ll change it if it’s problematic but it’s how Kinman does it so thought I’d give it a try, also installed a push/pull switch for neck/middle/bridge or neck/bridge in series, nice fat bluesy sound, my favourite 7way mod.

20.01.2022 This project is moving along nicely, it will be a metallic finish along with the neck headstock with my own decal...

19.01.2022 Wiring done just need to tidy up some of my soldering, new CTS pots, Oak and Grigsby switch, push/pull pot, treble bleed circuit, sprague orange drop cap and my own hand wound pickups, my favourite mod, 7 way switching......

18.01.2022 Looks like you had a lot of fun Dave, it will be hard act for me to follow. Step 1 recreate the same conditions, what was it again, Tequila first then Bundy? Luckily Im probably the only person in Melbourne who loves Bundy and who has a good supply Also my son lives in Bundaberg to keep the pipeline alive......

17.01.2022 Im not sure whether to leave it dark blue or carry on with the metallic finish, the blue looks great. Great therapy losing yourself in projects......

16.01.2022 Finishing one of my projects (hopefully by Friday). Its still got a bit more buffing to go but nearly there.

16.01.2022 After 16 years my Yamaha APX5 gets a much needed service. Fret levelling, re-crowning and dressing, its a different instrument....

15.01.2022 Finally some progress .,,. Wet sand then apply metallic blue also headstock.......

15.01.2022 Finished seal coats, Ill let it dry for a few days then wetsand and start building up the lacquer top coats...

15.01.2022 Restarting another project thats been gathering dust. Although I knew better I sprayed too many clear coats too soon on a cloudy humid day. The coating has a spiderweb of fine cracks so Ill need to strip it and start from scratch. The body is one piece American Alder with beautiful grain, Im thinking a light sunburst.

15.01.2022 Turned out well, I love the 7 way mod, nice fat bluesy sound.....

15.01.2022 Bit more setting up to do but I’m really happy with the way it turned out.

13.01.2022 Final sanding and rounding off edges, contours and tummy tuck before sealing - this ones for me, 1 piece American Alder with nice grain - will be a natural finish.

11.01.2022 Finished seal coats, I'll let it dry for a few days then wetsand and start building up the lacquer top coats...

09.01.2022 Just saw this, love it.....

09.01.2022 Just gave it a light sand and sprayed another seal coat, I will repeat the process tomorrow then hopefully if that goes well I can start the topcoats the day after, Im quietly optimistic.....

09.01.2022 My new project. This body was the first guitar I ever made but the neck pocket was out of whack, I didnt want to throw it away so I decided to screw/glue an old neck I purchased from the US some years ago - this is a work in progress......

08.01.2022 Had to remove the metallic finish, too lumpy so started the process again. Can be frustrating sometimes .....,

08.01.2022 I asked Dave if I could post his videos and in return Id do the same - but I need a couple of weeks to get back in practice. WATCH THIS SPACE THANKS FOR BEING A GOOD SPORT DAVE.

07.01.2022 I let the lacquer dry for around a month (2 weeks ok), will wet sand this week then apply the metallic colour followed by 3-4 coats clear then Ill allow to dry for another couple of weeks before continuing the clear process. I found that the lacquer shrinks or cures over time... Not the quickest process but it works for me, more to follow next week...

06.01.2022 Thanks Dave for reminding me that playing guitar can be fun...

05.01.2022 When its too cold and windy to do anything..................... Finish fine sanding and apply first seal coat to my new guitar body. Nice colour and grain..

05.01.2022 Almost finished the polishing and in the meantime putting the electronics together. Managed to resurrect my own pickups from a previous out of phase experiment, in plain english I magnetised them nth/sth/nth instead of sth/nth/sth, nearly did my head in sorting out that little lot.

04.01.2022 Coming along ....

04.01.2022 Bit more setting up to do but Im really happy with the way it turned out.

04.01.2022 Another work in progress, old Mexican Fender body I had sitting around gathering dust and a new neck I purchased for a project that never eventuated .......

03.01.2022 Playing around with a budget Tele, replacing pickups with Fender SCNs and adding a 4 way selector switch..

03.01.2022 Service and new strings - never ceases to amaze me how much difference even a basic service does to improve tone, beautiful.- like new......
