04.01.2022 National Families Week ends on May 21st so in acknowledgement Relationships Australia WA will be launching their second online mental health training tool to help parents, teachers, carers or people who have responsibilities for children, better understand child mental health issues and recognise behaviours in a child who might be struggling with a mental health decline. This free tool called 'Connect for Mental Health-For Parents, Teachers and Carers' shows ways to reach out... and talk to a child about their problems or challenges whilst managing your own emotions more effectively. She has gained extensive experience in the past 10 years in working therapeutically with children and young people, couples, individuals and is also a clinical supervisor with RAWA. Sue Aspin (Coordinator Special Projects - Education Services @Relationships Australia WA) Sue is an experienced group facilitator and psychologist with a down to earth style. Sue has worked extensively in the area of relationship education (personal and professional) and in mental health with adults and youth.

03.01.2022 Triple P is a FREE parenting program for parents/carers of children aged from 3 to 8 years. Parents are invited to learn: Effective parenting strategies Ways to encourage behaviour you like... How to promote your child’s development How to prevent or manage common child behaviour problems such as: * Tantrums * Mealtimes * Bullying * Bedtimes * How to say ‘no’ * Whining * Disobedience * Hurting others Expressions of interest are being taken for 8 week Group Triple P 4 x 1 hour workshop sessions by videoconference- in the evening. This is followed by one 15 minute phone call each week over the next 4 weeks to further support parents. This is structured group, with participants using a workbook to tailor parenting solutions for their own child. Participants would need access to tablet, laptop or desktop computer, with reliable internet access, and have a willingness to commit to all 8 weeks of the course. Proposed start date is week of May 4th. Please email [email protected] before Thursday 30th April if you are interested and would like to find out more. They will also take expressions of interest for possible daytime program as well.

We could not have anticipated how successful it would be and how welcomed our team would be in your homes.
