12.01.2022 Three of our juniors attended the Australian Junior Open held in Devonport, Tasmania, over the Easter weekend. Well done on supporting each other during matches when you could, and checking in on each other throughout the day, that’s what GPJSC is all about. Congratulations to Amelie who came runner up in under-15s, especially when we thought you were out of the event altogether thanks to a pinched nerve on the first day! Congratulations to Haider coming 4th in under-15’s ...with some strong competition and matches going to 5. Congratulations to Kumail placing 8th in under-17s. This was his first year in this age group and he walked away with some impressive points scored in games against strong players. You all gave it your best and we couldn’t be more proud! Stay focussed on your efforts and training above anything else, and progress will continue. It’s another event done and dusted with plenty more to come ! Due to Covid restrictions, the division categories placed entrants lower than what everyone would normally enter but hey it’s just a number right! Chris C: 2nd place division 3 Haider: 1st place division 4 Chris R: 3rd place division 4... Kumail: 2nd place division 5 Amelie: 5th place division 5 As always, GPJSC junior and senior members were there for each other throughout the weekend. Also a pat on the back to the junior who had a rough patch and picked themselves right back up to take two wins the following day, including the no.1 seed, this is what it’s all about kids! 02.01.2022 The Australian Junior Championships held at the Gold Coast over the past three days, was an invaluable experience for our Vic juniors! Well done to all of you for showing up, despite our unfortunate circumstances due to Covid-19. This was your first tournament since Feb/March! All our kids had a win and two ended with a podium finish (Amelie Guziak and Andre Lynn). More importantly, some of you have received wonderful feedback about your conduct throughout the tournament,... that makes us especially proud . We have also enjoyed hearing about the endless fun, friendships formed, and excitement for our full return to training and tournaments over the next few months . Give yourselves a BIG pat on the back... and give Raj Nanda one too because he has done a fantastic job being there for you all!
