13.01.2022 RECRUITING VOLUNTEERS TO RUN THE HIGH SCHOOL WELLBEING WORKSHOP Remember the times when you felt stressed in high school? Wished that someone had shared with you a few stress management strategies? Passionate about improving high school students mental health and wellbeing? Want to try conducting a workshop? The national General Practice Student Network (GPSN) Community Working Group is looking for medical students from all across Australia to conduct our wellbeing worksh...ops for high school students from Years 10 to 12. The High School Wellbeing Workshop (HSWW), which was previously named the High School Stress Seminar, has been re-designed over the past few months. It is an interactive workshop that aims to promote positive and healthy mindsets. We run various activities including a mini-meditation session. HSWW will be run throughout the year and each workshop will take approximately an hour. In volunteering for this program you will be asked to: Conduct a workshop in high school(s) with other medical students in the same city as your university. 08.01.2022 I hope everyone is excited for tomorrow night! Here is a list of the GP speakers: Dr Amanda Cuss Amanda is a GP registrar on the AGPT pathway with RACGP. After completing university and her junior hospital years she initially commenced General Surgery SET training after a year of senior residency in obstetrics and gynaecology. ... In 2018 she moved to General Practice and has a wide variety of experience in direct clinical patient-based care in public and private practice and hospitals. She also works as a senior medical advisor at the federal Department of Health advising health agencies on medical device and public health matters. She contributes to international and national academic publications and is an associate clinical professor and examiner for university medical schools. In addition to these roles, she has a special interest in the effects and outcomes and ethics of social media on public and youth health. She is also a wife, a mother, a sister, a daughter and a friend. Dr Katherine Smith Katherine is a recently fellowed GP registrar currently based in Wagga Wagga. She splits her time between General Practice and Emergency medicine. She has completed her MBBS as a postgrad from the University of Notre Dame, and her Diploma in Child Health and is working toward her certificate of Emergency Medicine. In her previous non-medical life she holds a Bachelor of arts in Psychology and a Graduate certificate in Human Resource Management. She is passionate about Rural Health and loves working the variety of practising general practice outside of a metro area. Dr Jessica Yabsley Jessica is a GP registrar with the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine. She grew up on a property in North West New South Wales before studying Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Canberra. Jessica then studied medicine at the University of Sydney and went on to complete her internship and residency at Orange Health Service. She completed a year of Emergency Medicine Training in Orange and is now working as a GP and VMO in Coonabarabran. She and her husband and son now live on her family farm, 40 minutes out of town, where they enjoy horse riding, bonfires, and learning to bake sourdough.

The speaker at this years Marie Bashir Address is Dr Kali Hayward; an Adelaide GP working at a national level as President of the Australian Indigenous Doctors Association.
