23.01.2022 An amazing initiative was launched last week to support truck drivers and their health and wellbeing. The OzHelp Foundation launched it's Health in Gear program, full of online resources, roadside health checks and a support line for owner drivers and their families. The challenges faced by truck drivers are unique and often extremely difficult, so we're happy to see the mental wellbeing of drivers being taken seriously and the support mechanisms being put into place to help ...them as much as possible. 22.01.2022 Driver fatigue is one of the most common dangers on the road, posing risks to drivers themselves and any others on the road. Usually caused by insufficient sleep, fatigue is the biggest cause of truck driver deaths. Irregular sleep schedules or inadequate rest periods during long journeys can also cause driver fatigue. So how can we prevent this?... Taking adequate breaks at certain points of a journey for a certain period of time to rest Reminding the driver to frequently take these breaks Use technology to monitor the driver and alert them when drowsiness or inattention occurs. Our Driver Fatigue Monitor has been created for exactly this purpose. Audible alerts are set off in the car, as well as a vibration in the seat to bring back their focus and attention to the road. The operations team are also notified. To find out more about this solution, visit us at: https://buff.ly/39Y8OjB #gpstracking #driverfatigue #truckdriver #telematics #fleetmanagement #fatigue

21.01.2022 The number of Inattention/Distraction driver losses more than doubled between 2017 and 2019. It was the sub-cause with the highest increase for driver error incidents. With fatigue remaining the largest cause of truck driver deaths, we need to prevent these crashes as much as possible. Our Driver Fatigue Monitor has been created for exactly this purpose.... Drowsiness and inattention events set off an audible alert to the driver, as well as a vibration in the seat to bring back their focus and attention to the road. 20.01.2022 Imagine if you could increase your business productivity by 23% just by adopting a GPS solution. A research study conducted by the Aberdeen group found that organisations using GPS tracking and fleet management systems achieved these key improvements to their businesses. Not only was there a major productivity increase, a reduction in idling time meant a decrease in fuel costs, along with repair and maintenance expenses.... If you'd also like to increase your profits and fleet utilisation, get in touch with us: https://buff.ly/39Y8OjB #gpstracking #gpstrackingperth #gpstrackingsystems #productivity

17.01.2022 A move in the right direction. With the NHVR releasing their Heavy Vehicle Productivity Plan 2020-25, it will be amazing to see a boost in freight efficiency, consistent access, and environmental benefits as a result. Essentially, the plan will "provide information to road managers to remove key pinch points across Australia’s heavy vehicle network". ... The plan has short, medium and long term actions which I think will be a step in the right direction in improving productivity: https://buff.ly/2Ds90M4 #heavyvehicles #nhvr #productivity #environmentalbenefits

13.01.2022 Mechanical failure losses in trucks are something that can be largely preventable, but occur too often. Looking at these failures by sub-cause (from the NTARC major incident report), we can see that steer tyre failures make up over 50% of these incidents. Steer tyres are the most important tyres on your truck and influence so many aspects of driving such as emergency braking, informing the driver of the road surface condition, and supporting the speed of the vehicle.... Overheating steer tyres are just one risk associated with these incidents. Having a tyre pressure monitoring device on your vehicle which frequently measures tyre pressure and temperature and alerts the driver of these can significantly reduce any incidents from occurring. To find out more about these devices, visit us at: https://buff.ly/39Y8OjB #wheelendfire #transport #gpstrackingsystems #telematics #tyrepressure #nonimpactfire #trucking #tyrerisks #driverrisks

13.01.2022 Following a heavy vehicle rolling over on a pedestrian island crossing in Victoria, a building supplies company has become the first consignor to be prosecuted by the NHVR. After looking into this case, it was discovered by the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) that the consignor had failed to comply with loading and restraint measurements since June 2017. In this time 189 containers had been transported without any restraint. All parties in the supply chain were part o...f the Chain of Responsibility with a shared duty for the safety of all transport activities. 12.01.2022 This is the type of "sensationalised reporting" that gives truck drivers a bad name! Read the facts below then watch the video. The facts: 1. Our MD Matt Cooper personally knows the truck driver so has first hand information. By the way he is OK!! 2. He was travelling at about 25 kph and was on his side of the road.... 3. The car came onto his side of the road without braking. 4. He is an owner operator so has now lost his livelihood!! The media should be held accountable for misrepresentation. #fakenewsmedia #getthefacts #trucking https://www.facebook.com/watch/

12.01.2022 Following fatigue and inattention, inappropriate speed is the next major cause of truck driver deaths. A slight decrease in these losses was noted between 2017 and 2019 however, the numbers are still alarmingly high.... Our solution is designed to reduce these numbers as much as possible. It is able to: Notify the driver with audible alerts when overspeeding Raise live notifications with operations team Set a speed tolerance for road level speeds To find out more, visit us at: https://buff.ly/39Y8OjB #gpstracking #gpstrackingsystems #perthgps

08.01.2022 Composing a text message is one of the most dangerous secondary tasks a driver can undertake while driving. A review undertaken for the NTC showed that manual messaging while driving resulted in a 30% increase in reaction time to road events. Aside from the impairments in driving performance, text messaging is particularly risky because it not only takes the driver's eyes off the road and their hand/s off the wheel, but it also takes their mind off the task to think about wha...t to text. Finding solutions to prevent driver distractions, whether these be visual or cognitive, is something that we believe is so important. Each customer will have a different solution that fits them and their business and we want to ensure that we find you the best fit. 07.01.2022 Once you've seen the increase in productivity, reduced costs and other safety benefits from having GPS vehicle tracking in your fleet, sharing this change with your employees may not be easy. So how can you ease into this transition and show them the benefits? WHY - Sharing the purpose with employees may get them on board easier. Have workplace accidents increased; are you missing service schedules; do you need to better service your customers?... HOW - Explaining how the system works and what information is collected will remove any misconceptions. BENEFITS - Share any direct employee benefits: less paperwork, no more manual log entries and more revenue which could lead to possible performance incentives. SAFETY - Ultimately, you want to keep your employees and fleet safe. Minimising behaviours such as over-speeding or harsh braking will decrease the risk of accidents. 05.01.2022 The impairments from using a mobile phone while driving can be as profound as those associated with driving with a blood-alcohol of 0.08 percent. This comparison shows just how terrifying using a mobile phone can be in the car. The number of Inattention/Distraction driver losses more than doubled between 2017 and 2019. These numbers could be lowered through a simple change of decreased mobile phone usage, on the path to safer roads. ... #gps #gpstrackingsystems #telematics #roadsafety #inattention

03.01.2022 Yesterday, our MD Matt Cooper had the opportunity of going back to his alma mater and presenting in a lecture theatre that he used to sit and watch lectures in back in the 90's. Issues such as WHS, Chain of Responsibility, fatigue, inattention and steer tyre failure as well as some solut...ions to these were some key topics.
