25.01.2022 The weekly roundup , ARB base rack and accessories looking good in the parts department, testing for a failed injector on the patrol and guess what, its buggered , hole in the sump lets the oil out every time, very lucky not to damage the engine. we are starting to see lots of accident damaged vehicles on the tow trucks these days, don't end up a victim, buckle up and remember if you go there you must come back.

21.01.2022 Seems we at GPS are always banging on about Filters in one form or another, air Filters and the correct fitting are vitally important as is using the correct filter, vdj79 use a similar filter to prado, but it is different and coupled with poor fitting will end badly, as in the photo you must pay attention when fitting the air filter so the seals are located properly to stop the dust, remember engines are not cheap and if you go there you must get back.

19.01.2022 The weekly roundup is all about the W ....... Water in the rodeo computer after it was parked in a deep puddle., Noise in brakes to find pads fitted back to front equals Wtf and the "Wucking" fuse mate ....remember if you go there you must come back.

19.01.2022 Here at GPS we are always looking for ways to improve, found these methods of managing the distancing stuff and think they are pretty good, remember if you go there you must come back.

19.01.2022 marge the rains are here! its raining on the cape, not the wet but much needed water, remember if you go there you must get back.

17.01.2022 A handy reminder that if you travel on the cape you should check your gear regularly or have someone do it for you, water damaged filters like this one will cost you money when your dusted engine says "ihavehadenough".... remember if you go there you must come back.

15.01.2022 It has been a very long wet season, still raining but slowly withdrawing, the cape is very wet, the roads are still restricted or closed, ugly in spots, although with new growth appearing the cape is super green and ready for the new year, remember, generally if you have dirty jerry cans the end result is in your fuel filters, if you go there you must get back, begin your adventures with care.

13.01.2022 If you own a 4x4 then there is a fair chance you will know what these are and where you fit them; front lower control arm for either cruiser or patrol, offset caster bush's generally 3 degrees or stronger, fitted to many with suspension improvements. Available in many colours that generally decide the brand, it does not matter what colour or brand they are when run on the great corrugations of far north Queensland, they are not capable of sustained travel on corrugated roads. These days brands are producing these offset bush's in rubber and we at GPS recommend them. When the plastics give up the ghost replace them with rubber; remember if you go there you must get back.

Thank you all for your support in 2020 and we look forward to seeing you in 2021. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!! We hope you all have a safe and prosperous Christmas and remember, if you go there you must get back.

12.01.2022 Probably the strongest Di on the cape just received an upgrade, in previous form it was considered "very strong" with the long wait for bits over, the new upgrade is "scary strong", remember if you go there you must get back.

09.01.2022 Beware Language Warning: GPS does not advocate doing this to your vehicle, this is a perfect example of if its flooded forget it, its to late when your in the middle of it to decide that "you know mate its deeper then it was two weeks ago"... remember if you go there you must get back.

09.01.2022 This week it is all about the dirt, dust, leaves and stones, the one big advantage battery powered thingamajigs will have over oil burners is no blocked filters, fuel or air, the only way this stuff gets into the fuel system or the air is owner operator error, if you fill from anywhere but a servo make sure the containers are clean, make sure that before you take the filler caps of that you have cleaned the dust and dirt from around the cap threads before it falls into the tank, it will end up in the filter, it will end up in the engine, it will cost you money to fix, rocks and boulders in the air filter housing require a snorkel to solve the problem before your engine gets hurt ... remember if you go there you must get back.

08.01.2022 For those with mechanical sympathy, this will give you the shivers, the rest either don't care or don"t know the damage and expence created by not extending your diff breathers before you start having fun in the wet.remember if you go there you must get back.

07.01.2022 The weekly roundup: when you increase the rear track of a VDJ cruiser please consider all possibilities including using the best gear - breaking bits in a remote area will cause grief. When the intake turbo wheel gets loose in the housing at a zillion rpm the end result is not good. We think the apprentice is modelling his new evening wear, and a reward is being offered for the missing brake caliper and tyres....Simple round black things that hold up each end of the vehicle that will wear out on the inside of the tyre when dumb low tyre pressures are used or when they are driven on when flat. Remember if you go there you must get back.

03.01.2022 This is called getting value for your money, bang for your buck or as the local butcher who owns it says --- more meat in your sausage ---- the reality is it was unsafe some time ago, if you go there you must get back.

02.01.2022 The weekly roundup - for it to work the colored wires must match up and for it to steer correctly all the bolts must be fitted, remember if you go there you must get back.

02.01.2022 The weekly roundup is all about the golden oldies visiting the workshop, a 47 touring the cape (one of the first visitors for 2020) and 2 Weipa residents, the capri and the lumpy old xb all in great condition.

02.01.2022 Ranger 3.2 shreds a fan belt, the remains of the belt wrap themselves around the harmonic balancer and work their way into the front crank seal and damage the front engine cover, this is what is behind the cover that you would never normally see, the replacement cover is engineered (by a different person) so that this problem wont happen again, doing an Easter road trip , got a 3.2, check the belts and mask up, if you go there you must get back

01.01.2022 Amazing how the the new year has become February already and the weekly roundup is a little more about catch-up, a complete brake upgrade for the 100 series works perfectly and looks good, cocktails by the bear sensational, dusty air mass sensor caused the workshop grief, the skeleton in the closet is a bit of workshop humour (mind the language) the joker turned up for a visit, and what's in the plastic wrap nothing but a little old LS3 ( watch this space) remember if you go there you must get back, happy belated new years to all.

01.01.2022 Warning - Warning - new lux on the street.
