21.01.2022 On 13 February 2008, Prime Minister Kevin Rudd made a formal apology to Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people for the laws and policies of successive Parliaments that inflicted upon them profound grief, suffering and loss. The apology in particular is made to the Stolen Generations whose lives had been blighted by past policies of child removal and Indigenous assimilation.
