25.01.2022 Positive COVID-19 wastewater results have been detected in the Adelaide CBD (B11) and Bolivar catchment. The B11 catchment does not include the dedicated COVID-...19 positive medi-hotel facility. These positive results may be linked to old cases in other medi-hotels, however, further investigations are underway. To rule out undetected cases is our community, this is a timely reminder for all South Australians to seek testing as soon as possible if you have any COVID-19 symptoms, no matter how mild. This applies especially if you have recently been in the Adelaide CBD. Symptoms of COVID-19 may include fever or chills, cough, sore throat, runny nose, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell or diarrhoea or vomiting. To find a testing location near you, visit www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/COVIDtesting. Testing wastewater can help provide early warning of undetected active cases in the community. Find more information on the testing program at www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/COVIDwastewater.

15.01.2022 Vaccines, like any other medication or natural therapy, can have side effects. As part of regulatory assessment of all vaccines, the Therapeutic Goods Administr...ation (TGA) considers information about possible side effects. For a vaccine to be registered for use in Australia, the benefits must outweigh the risks. The possible side effects are minor and may include: pain and swelling at the injection site tiredness headache muscle and joint pain chills fever Most side effects last no more than a couple of days and do not require special treatment. Serious reactions like allergic reactions are extremely rare. Even after a vaccine is given, it is still monitored for safety. Healthcare professionals contribute to ongoing monitoring by informing the TGA of any side effects, even if they are very minor. As part of vaccine safety surveillance, vaccine recipients may receive a text message from the AusVaxSafety program three days and eight days after the vaccine asking if they have had any side effects. The AusVaxSafety program is run through the National Centre for Immunisation and Surveillance scheme. For more information on South Australia’s COVID-19 vaccination program, visit www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/covidvaccinefaqs If you have had a COVID-19 vaccination and think you may be experiencing side-effects, check out Healthdirect Australia COVID-19 Vaccine Side Effect Checker: www.healthdirect.gov.au/covid-19-vaccine-side-effect-checker

13.01.2022 "There will be a COVID-19 drive-through collection clinic operating from the Aldinga GP plus clinic on Pridham Blvd, Aldinga from tomorrow. The clinic will be open every day for the foreseeable future and operating from 8am to 4pm. "The clinic is opening at Aldinga to capture residents in the South, as the next closest clinic is Flinders Medical Centre, which has a significant wait time. This clinic will also ease some pressure on the FMC clinic. "The clinic will accept anyone wanting to be tested, and while they will accept GP referrals, they are not mandatory. "There is no immediate risk to any residents or the nearby community. The clinic is purely to capture the southern population and to make access to testing easier for residents, as there are not as many facilities serving the southern area.

09.01.2022 24 hours after my COVID19 jab and feeling great/normal. Had a full day with kids sport (Tennis finals.... don't ask !) then Mclaren FC trial game and was kept b...usy. Finally nice family meal at Sabella in Mclaren Vale with a glass or 2 of the Merlot (Highly recommended). Planning for a 50-60km bike ride with friends in the morning. Beginning to feel a little sore over the injection site, but i often do.... and I'm soft. NO adverse reactions. Shouldn't affect my cycling in the morning Please, roll up your sleeve when you have the opportunity to have your jab. It is safe and ok to have, and will save lives. Doc Ryan

08.01.2022 Steve’s Coronavirus Update. Wednesday, 18th of November. The Parafield Cluster.... I know we are in lockdown as of midnight. I know lots of people are freaking out. This is a major inconvenience and will cause mayhem for many of us. But it’s not the end of the world and we need to keep things in perspective. Yesterday we had 20 active cases in the Parafield Cluster with 14 others suspected which were in quarantine and treated as active. They were also contact traced and location alerts identified accordingly. Today, we have only 2 new cases (taking the total to 22) and 7 suspected cases. From where I sit, we are 3 cases better off than we were yesterday! #COVID19isoutthere #washyourhands #keepyourdistance #remainvigilant LOCKDOWN. SA Health and those helping them have done an amazing job with contact tracing. They have identified all contacts 4 steps of transmission down the line from the index case and have them in isolation. It is important to remember these people are NOT active cases and have not tested positive at this stage. But even without transmission the number of contacts increases exponentially as you move each step further from the index case. As SA Health embarks on contact tracing of Step 5, the numbers of contacts start to get larger faster than they can be traced and you end up with a Victoria type scenario if they end up positive. A circuit breaker lockdown STOPS the ongoing increase in numbers of contacts while the tracers nail them all down and we stop the this thing in its tracks. Six days is two generations of spread of this current strain, so will be long enough for us to know if things are under control with minimum inconvenience. Yes, it’s a pain. But our compatriots in Victoria coped with lockdown for 112 days surely we can manage for 6 days we are South Aussies after all. The way I see it, the best case scenario is in 6 days we look back and say, Well, that was a bit of an over-reaction because the circuit breaker works perfectly and it fizzes out. The worst case scenario would have been if in 6 days we went into a Victorian type lockdown (or worse) with regret we didn’t do the circuit breaker 6 days ago when we thought about it. #nocrystalball #noretrospectoscope #nocomplacency I want to leave with a few key points: Asymptomatic carriers are not a new threat they are the reason we have had 1.5m physical distancing for the whole time. Fomite transmission (from surfaces) is not a new threat that is why we clean surfaces and have pushed hand hygiene since day one. If you wash your hands or sanitise before touching your food or your face, fomites are not a problem. I really feel sorry for people who were due to do their regular weekly shopping this afternoon the queues are ridiculous. Shops will be open every day for the next 6 days people including liquor outlets so stop the panic buying PLEASE. The only thing you really need to get today (although SAPOL will show leniency in the short-term) is a mask. I walked straight in to Bunnings to get some things for projects during lockdown picked up a box of KN95 masks while I was there and checked straight out. Hang in there people. Look after yourselves and each other. #staysafe #staypositive #wecandothis #SAGreat

02.01.2022 At GPaxis we have taken the decision to change to a mixed billing practice, to much debate among the local community. Here are my comments on the matter, for what it is worth: I’m a GP working with GPaxis since 2009. Since 2013 approx. Medicare froze the cost of living increase it pays for GP consultations. Most, if not all of you that are employed will have had a pay rise at some stage since 2013. ...Continue reading
