25.01.2022 Some exciting News for those wishing their parents to join them in Australia: 5-YEAR PARENT VISITOR VISAS Legislation for this visa has passed through the House of Representatives and is now listed for debate in the Senate on Monday 12 November 2018. This legislation is expected to be passed by the Senate and the 5-year parent visa should become available shortly after that. No Balance of Family required for this Visa. 20.01.2022 Australia closes its borders for non citizens for at least six months.

19.01.2022 Sponsorships for the new 870 Temporary Parent visa will begin on the 17th of April 2019. Cost of becoming a sponsor is $420. The cost of the visa will be $5000 for a 3 year duration and $10,000 for a five year duration. The Balance of Family Test does not apply to this new Visa.... The amount of Taxable income for the sponsor will be $83,454.80 in the most recent completed taxable income year prior to the lodgement of the Sponsorship application. The program will be capped at 15, 000 places per year. This means that no further visas can be issued once the cap for the relevant migration year has been reached. The migration program year re-sets on 1 July each year.

14.01.2022 New Parent Visa Applications announced. Sponsorships open from 17th April 2019. Once the Sponsorship is approved, a sponsored parent will be able to apply for the Sponsored (temporary) Parent Visa. The visa allows parents to remain in Australia for a longer period of time, up to five years at a time without departing. The sponsorship application fee is $420.... The visa allows parents to stay in Australia temporarily for a period of up to five years at a time. A parent must be outside Australia for at least 90 days before being eligible to apply for a further Sponsored Parent (Temporary) visa. A parent will be able to hold visas up to a total stay in Australia of 10 years. The visa application charge is: $5,000 for a visa of up to three years duration; or $10,000 for a visa of up to five years duration. Visa holders will be subject to a no work condition.

Applicants for the Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189) must use the shorter Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL). 10.01.2022 QLD STATE NOMINATION CLOSES AFTER 2 Days. Due to the unprecedented demand of the skilled program the BSMQ skilled program is temporarily CLOSED. Expressions of interest (EOIs) submitted for SkillSelect after 5.00pm AEST 30 July 2019 will not be considered at this time.... EOIs submitted from 2930 July 2019 (5.00pm AEST) will be accepted and considered over the coming months. Due to this demand, it is unlikely that the subclass 489 program will reopen (for skilled applicants) due to the closure for nominations on 10 September 2019 (to be replaced by the new subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa). The subclass 190 program will reopen in due course, and BSMQ will publish the re-opening date via www.migration.qld.gov.au and on social media channels. The BSMQ Business program remains OPEN.

10.01.2022 Federal Budget 2019/2020 Announcements: Extension of Skilled Graduate Visas Subclass 485 1. Federal government has announced that from November 2021, international students will be able to apply for an additional year on a second post-study work visa if they complete a higher education or postgraduate qualification in a regional area, and live in a regional area while holding a Temporary Graduate ... 2.Additional Points for Secondary Applicants From November 2019, the Skilled Migration Points Test will be adjusted to award additional points to primary applicants when their partner has competent English but does not meet the existing requirements for skilled partner points, for example, by way of obtaining a positive skills assessment. 3.Reducing Permanent Residence Intake PR intake will be reduced from 190,000 places to 160,000 places. The measure will be implemented for the next four years. The government has failed to meet the current migration intake for the last two years. 4.Visa Application Charges set to increase on 1 July 2019 The Government will be increasing visa application charges across all visa subclasses with exception of subclass 600 visa. Secondary instalment s will remain the same.

10.01.2022 Important changes to partner visa processing times The Department of Home Affairs has slashed the global processing time for partner visa applications to nearly half, dealing a much-needed relief to those waiting for an outcome in the wake of previously ballooning waiting period. The DHA has recently dropped processing times for partner visas to 14-16 months from 21-26 months. 05.01.2022 Queensland Opens The State Nomination Program. Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible for Queensland nomination, you must meet both Australian Department of Home Affairs (HA) criteria and Business and Skilled Migration Queensland (BSMQ) criteria for your chosen visa category.... BSMQ criteria requires you to: have an occupation on the QSOL for applicants currently working in Queensland (onshore); provide evidence you have been living in regional Queensland for three months if applying for a 491; provide evidence of full-time employment immediately before applying/lodging (minimum 35 hours per week) in your nominated occupation for the past six months for subclass 190 and three months for subclass 491; satisfy specialisation or other requirements for certain occupations; provide evidence of ongoing full-time employment (minimum 35 hours per week) with a Queensland employer registered in Australia for a further 12 months; and commit to living and working in Queensland for two years from visa grant for the subclass 190 and three years from visa grant for the subclass 491.
