16.01.2022 COMPLEMENTARY COLOUR THEORY Hi guys!! I really would like to focus on educating my followers on COLOUR THEORY! So this is the new GG - creating not only "hopefully beautiful designs" but education on the way through. PLEASE COMMENT - if you would like to hear more. You cant go wrong when you work with the basics of colour theory. ... Once you understand it - everything falls into place. Be it decorating, branding, renovation - COLOUR IMPACTS US - Not only on a visual level but also a psychological level too. I really want to start sharing my years of experience with my followers - break down some of the rules where you cant go wrong. Here is your first example. Intensity or Saturation The purity (brightness or dullness) of the colour. Pure red is bright; red mixed with a little green (its complement, opposite it on the colour wheel) becomes less intense, more neutral. Watch the video post to see how and why this works. GG x

10.01.2022 COLOUR SESSION #2 - MONOCHROMATIC MYTH # 1 Monochromatic is not BLACK + WHITE Monochromatic means - ONE COLOUR How light or dark the COLOUR is. ... Working with tone. Tints - Shades - or Saturation. In general, work using a full range of tones when using one colour so it will stand out, be more visually pleasing. Purposely using a limited range of values of just ONE colour. Here we have a single colour ORANGE. Shown in a variation of textiles and wall coverings from the NEW GG - Coastal Indulgence Collection. This one colour has been tinted (add white), shaded (add black), or less saturated (greyed off). It creates interest in space. So even if you only wish to work with one colour consider its many variations. Next time you are in a space that is primarily ONE colour - take a closer look. Its the tints, the shades and saturated variation of the ONE colour that makes it interesting. It was lovely to hear the feedback on the last COLOUR POST. Thank you.
