25.01.2022 Last week, we saw students take on the Healthy Snack Challenge as part of their PE studies and Wellness Program! Mrs Johnsons class of Year 11 Core PE students were tasked with planing and preparing nourishing meals that could also be used to connect with others. Our culinary artists got creative, with students crafting characters , trains , dolphins and even a tasty tropical paradise #gritgrowthgrace



25.01.2022 Heard a tune on the breeze while on campus? You might have caught a moment from our Grace Academy drive-in concerts! As part of their rehearsals this week, our student bands have been practicing in the open air outside the chapel. 25.01.2022 For the last few weeks, our Japanese Studies students have been hosting ZOOM chats with students from our sister school, Nichidai Tsurugaoka High School in Tokyo! Through their chats, virtuals tours and digital cossepondance, students from Grace and Nichidai have been able to test out their language skills and learn more about their lifestyles and learning Despite the students, all students had a great time and developed some all new friendships! Abigail Easton (Y...ear 12) Overall, the Zoom meeting with the Nichidai students was an incredibly fun and enjoyable experience. Since we couldnt meet in person, it was a great to connect with Japanese students our age and learn more about each other, and Ive made a great friend who I hope to keep in contact with! Raya Malabanan (Year 9) Meeting my Nichidai buddy was an awesome experience, we gave them a tour of Grace Lutheran College, and they told me more about Japan and their school. It was really cool because we found out we have similar likes in anime and food. Great works students! #gritgrowthgrace

25.01.2022 Friday Night Footy on the BIG SCREEN As part of their final year, our Year 12 students wanted to enjoy each others company while watching Friday Night Football on the BIG SCREEN in the MPC This was on their list of things to do before they finish up at the College and considering the year they've had, we thought this was an excellent suggestion. The Geelong Vs Richmond game was a highlight with jamming songs from Hamilton continuing throughout the evening ... A great night with terrific people!! #gritgrowthgrace

21.01.2022 Hornibrook Bus Lines Update - Route 6708 From September 14 2020, there will be changes to the 6708 school bus service.... In the morning, this service will depart 10 minutes earlier to ensure all students arrive to schools on time. The Whites Road stop outside Petrie Hall will also be removed in the morning and afternoon. Students wishing to board or disembark this service will need to use Petrie Station. 20.01.2022 Grace played host to high school students from across Brisbane today, as part of the upcoming FIRST Tech Challenge 2020 Robotics season The college has been a proud supporter of this event for the past 5 years and currently hosts the National Final , with over 200 teams across Australia participating. Students worked together to collaborate and brainstorm on robot design , coding , and developing their game strategy . Each also learned about the 2020 Game from ...Grace alumnis and Super Referee Max Orchard! 19.01.2022 Sunny Monday saw our Year 8 students head to Luther Heights Youth Camp for their Day Camp! They participated in crate climb , challenge course , medium ropes , team building exercises and had fun at the beach (while also building teamwork skills!). As one student put it, It was the best day ever!... 18.01.2022 Our Year 11 GEL classes recently took on the Ultimate House Cup Challenge , which had them involved in a range of challenges, including: Paper plane making Challenge planks Just Dance-ff... Rebus work challenges. Students were highly competitive and battled it out for the ultimate prize. Staff were also very keen to support and facilitate the challenges throughout the afternoon. Well done to Orion for taking out first place this year, closely followed by Pegasus , Phoenix and in Antares Great fun and entertainment was had by all! #gritgrowthgrace

The Breakthrough Junior Challenge is an annual global competition for students to inspire creative thinking about science Students ages 13 to 18 from countries across the globe are invited to create and submit original videos (3:00 minutes in length maximum) that bring to life a concept or theory in the life sciences, physics or mathematics. The submissions are judged on the students ability to communicate complex scientific ideas ...in engaging, illuminating, and imaginative ways. The Challenge is organized by the Breakthrough Prize Foundation. Grace year 12 student, Noah Wildman, representing Australia & New Zealand, has made it into the final top 30 videos worldwide with his entry "Wormhole Tears in the Universe"! She spoke about her own teaching career and encouraged these future teachers to take as many opportunities as they could - participating in the vibrancy of school life and community through clubs , committees and school events . Mrs Budd has lead by example in this way, and we are grateful that a new genera...tion of teachers could hear and learn from her stories and advice! 16.01.2022 On Monday, an Awards Ceremony was held for our Accelerated Mathematics and the Accelerated Science students . These Year 11s are completing their Year 12 Mathematical Methods and/or Year 12 Physics twelve months early, as part of our Accelerated programs All the Rothwell Accelerated Maths students (Years 7-11) were able to attend and celebrate their peers, while also getting a look at what to expect from their own 'graduation' from the program. 12.01.2022 Uniform Information For Year 7 to 10, the student Day shoe (also worn with the formal uniform) is to be a traditional black leather lace up with a separate block heel. This is to align with the Grace Uniform update from 2019 onwards.... Students in Year 11 and 12 may wear either Black or Brown leather shoes as their Day shoes.

10.01.2022 The case of the Big Bad Wolf v. Curly Pig was heard today in the court of Grace. The mock trial was presided over by Mr Dougan (Prac student from Australian Catholic University (ACU) and the Year 8 Business and Legal Studies students The group participated in the fairy tale trial where students took on roles of different court personnel. The students had a great time playing the characters, while also learning how a court trial would run in the real world.... #gritgrowthgrace

08.01.2022 As part of their Term 4 God’s World, Our World Unit, Year 9 Christian Studies students have made Insect Hotels under the direction of Mrs Annette Kropp. These Hotels provide nesting spaces for ‘solitary’ insects. Solitary insects are very important for pollination of native plants , but unlike ‘social’ insects, these insects do not form hives. Instead, they need small spaces to lay their eggs.... The students assisted in placing the Insect Hotels in various locations around the College. #gritgrowthgrace

06.01.2022 Our Year 7 Lifestyle Technology students are embracing their creativity and sewing skills! Over the last few weeks, each have created a variety of multipurpose pouches. These will be used to keep their technology tidy , to carry their laptops , as a pencil case , as gifts for family and even one developed into a chair pouch The class has produced some wonderful work using a variety of techniques. Students spent the weeks researching, designing and testing the aerodynamic of their dragster designs, before concluding the unit with a 'last-man-standing' race Each raced their C02 dragsters in an elimination, until Zac Kelly and Dylan Humphries made it the final race off Congratulations to Zac for taking out the overall championship! ... 01.01.2022 On Friday, our Year 11 and 12 Business Certificate students conducted their annual Krispy Kreme Business Venture! With the added challenges of being COVID safe, the students performed admirably in adhering to the safety requirements and successfully delivered and served all 40 dozen donuts The Business Venture assesses students organisational, teamwork, customer service and technology skills.
