Links to come. A message from John Macintyre, Senior Pastor of GracePC: Hi friends,... Someone recently pointed out to me that no-one living has ever had to deal with a World Wide pandemic. In Dorothy Hulme Moir’s book Silver Cord she recounts her childhood experiences growing up in a Sydney Anglican Rectory at the time of the Spanish Flu pandemic in 1918. Much like today they closed down churches, schools and even workplaces. It was a difficult time for all with social isolation being one of the frustrations. One benefit we have today, is the number of ways we can stay in touch, from the next suburb to the other side of the world. I encourage you to do just that, with your family and friends and especially the lonely. Think of ways you can serve others, like shopping for the elderly. The management of how we meet together is something we have been reflecting seriously on. The announcement below is something that I would never have imagined giving in 30 years of ministry! In an effort to contribute to the slow-down of the spread of Covid-19 we are suspending our Sunday services effective from Sunday 22 March until further notice. Yes both Grace AM and PM will be suspended. The planned Annual Congregational meeting is also postponed to a later date. We understand that many will be disappointed but we want you to understand we are doing this out of concern not only for your health but in practical love for our wider community. Please pray. Pray for government and those in essential services who will not have the luxury of staying at home. Pray for a good use of your time and pray for ordinary Australians, many who do not have the same eternal hope that we enjoy. Now more than ever it’s important to be encouraged around God’s Word, to pray for one another and to really feel that you belong to the Lord and to each other. We want to encourage you to not give in to anxiety but to stay connected. To help you do that we will be uploading a shortened service for you. Please check your email and Grace PC Facebook page in the next day or two for more information on how you might access this. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
