17.01.2022 Gaze, Interrupted is a multi-arts, curated virtual exhibition that will showcase a selection of experimental artworks that explore the malleable and ephemeral nature of perception, and play with the phenomenological experiences of time and duration. The selected artists explore how notions of perspective and duration can be depicted, manipulated, harnessed, and replicated through the creative technologies of their practice. In doing so, they delve into complex issues and idea...s, including the power of psychological imagery, the (in)distinguishability of perception vs reality, and the iterative nature of experience. The exhibition is part of the George Paton Gallerys online exhibition series, GPG Virtual. It is the debut exhibition of Melbourne-based curatorial group, Irregular Scheduled Programming (ISP), which is made up of three emerging curators Sorcha Delahunty, Thalia Livingstone, and Phebe Shields. To keep up to date with ISPs projects, or to get in touch, follow them @irregularscheduledprogramming. All the art work will be available for viewing on https://www.irregularscheduledprogramming.com/ from 16th September. : Christina May Carey, Virtual Window, 2020, video still

14.01.2022 As part of GSAs representation and advocacy mandate, we have conducted research to understand and improve the educational experiences of graduate student parents. Parents on Campus focuses on factors that hinder the academic success and sense of belonging at the University for student parents, including: The lack of a family friendly environment at the University of Melbourne in terms of support, facilities, physical space and culture Failing to represent student parent...s in dedicated policies The inaccessibility of University childcare due to cost and inflexibility The sense of invisibility and alienation student parents experience as a result of these factors. This report informs recommendations for improving the student parent experience for the University, the Federal Government and within the GSA. GSA continues to advocate to the University for change to improve the experience of all graduate students. Access the report here. http://go.unimelb.edu.au/259j
