24.01.2022 We were approached by a lovely lady the other day. She loves driving down the coast to see her family and friends, but often gets caught at night time driving with standard Subaru lights that simply wasn't cutting it. She also hasn't had a working radio for 2 years and has a hard time seeing her instruments during the day. Her requests were ease of use, has to play CDs and didn't change her aesthetics too much at the front of the car. So with these things in mind we kitted he...r out with a new Ignite 300mm light bar combo (does both spot and flood patterns), custom mounting bracket attached to the support bar behind the plastic bumper, this prevents the light from bouncing up and down due to weak plastic. We also placed a new CD player and removed her cluster to insert brighter LED globes and had the instrument lights rewired to turn on with ignition so they're always bright for her, whilst still being dimmable for night time use. She left one happy customer.

21.01.2022 This might look like a heart monitor, and in a way it is. This is one of our more technical pieces of equipment we use to diagnose harder problems. This is an oscilloscope and with it we can monitor all sorts of electrical signals your car produces to run your vehicle. This car was having a misfire on cylinder 2, the customer had been to another mechanic who had replaced the spark plugs and leads but the misfire was still there. This oscilloscope allowed us to monitor 3 func...tions of the vehicle to allow cylinder 2 to fire. Here we are monitoring the trigger signal to the fuel injector, triggering signal to the individual cylinder coil as well as the spark the coil produces to the spark plug. With this tool we were able to prove that electronically, the vehicle was doing as intended and that the vehicle had a mechanical issue causing the misfire. See more

19.01.2022 Another day another dash removal. In this 2010 Ford Festiva we removed the dashboard, subframe and heater control box to remove a leaking evaporator which gives you your nice crisp cold air conditioning. We had all this reassembled and ready for the weekend and Christmas. Ensure you get your vehicle in before 20th December as we close down for 3 weeks!

19.01.2022 Brakes are one of the most important parts of your vehicle. So when we had this Mazda 2 arrive to our workshop with reports of brake noise, we were quick to find the brakes had surpassed their life span and gone metal on metal. Once at this stage, braking becomes dangerous. They heat up faster and produce less braking ability, creating a potentially dangerous situation. But it's what we found when we pulled the front brakes apart that shocked us the most. 90% of modern brake... pads are fitted with either electronic sensors that trigger lights on your dash to let you know your brake pads are low, or they're fitted with small metal tabs that cause brakes to squeal when they're low. The Mazda 2 is fitted with the latter, except on this vehicle, some one has taken it upon themselves to cut off these metal tabs. It's not clear who did this or why, but a vital ability to notify the driver that the brakes are in need of being changed was removed causing the owner to get to the point where his brakes were now less effective then they needed to be. Brakes are important, see a professional to have them serviced and maintained, and if you're given advice to have them replaced, take note and have them changed as recommended.

11.01.2022 It's that time of year again! When it's hot and bothering us, we've got our A/C to turn to. But what if it doesn't work or doesn't perform well on hotter days? That's where we come in. With over 40 years as air conditioning specialists in the automotive sector, there's no one better on the Northern Beaches to handle any A/C problem you might have. But how about some tips for those really hot days where every car struggles, well we've got those for you too: - Turning your vehi...cle on to recycled air will help your car get colder faster. - The temptation to throw your A/C fan onto full ball when you get into a car is hard to pass up (after all we all want cold air NOW rather than later), but this is not the correct move. Turning your fan onto a lower setting (such as 1st or 2nd speed) helps your evaporator get colder faster as it's being blasted slower with hot air from the car or outside. Once your A/C is coming out cold, you can slowly increase the speed of the fan to pump the cold air out quicker - A/C servicing is a real thing. Not many people realise that an A/C system requires servicing every 1 to 2 years. This servicing helps remove moisture from the system and helps ensure your A/C system is working correctly. Every 3-5 years your reciever drier should also be changed. This components stores moisture from the system and as much as 2 drops of water will fill it up, so regular changing helps keep your system efficient. Come see us today, or call for more info.
