25.01.2022 Government deciding to come up with a wage subsidy for Australian workers effected by Covid -19 https://7news.com.au//coronavirus-update-pm-scott-morrison

25.01.2022 ATO cautions against lodging 2020 tax return early. It is going to be a busy tax time this year and while we understand that people will want to lodge their tax returns as early as possible the ATO are urging taxpayers to hold off until they are positive all their income has been declared and finalised. With Single Touch Payroll now live businesses with 20 employees or more will have until the 14th of July to finalise their payroll and businesses with 19 employees or less w...ill have until the 31st of July to finalise their payroll. The ATO has stated that it will not start processing 2020 tax return until the 5th of July and their pre fill information service will not be available until the 14th of July. What does this mean for tax payers? It means that all relevant information for your tax return may not be available at the time you go to see your tax agent. Everything and we mean everything gets reported to the ATO. From your interest earned on a savings account, your private health premiums paid, dividends earned, the job that you only worked at for 3 weeks and didn't get issued a group certificate for, the rental property that you sold this year that may have capital gains tax due on it. The point we are making is we will proceed and produce your tax return providing that all your relevant information is true and present at the time. This means you will need to have your your ducks in a row when you come to see us. We will be happy to assist anyway we can. If you would like a tax summary of your previous 2019 tax return emailed you to for use as a reference please don't hesitate to contact us via facebook or email. The Team Graeme Tupling Accounting

23.01.2022 FROM THE DESK OF GRAEME. Do you qualify for job keeper payment. ? There is copious amounts of information in the market place at present but I though I would do a short "temperature check" to make sure you are aware of what is available for small business and if you should register for the payment.... In short the main criteria is has your business suffered a more than 30% reduction in income compared to the same period last year?. If yes then you may be entitled to a job keeper payment. If you qualify the payment of $1500 per fortnight will be paid for all eligible employees. In short any full time or part time staff. Any casuals that have worked continuous for you for over 12 months. If your structure is a partnership and or trust then 1 partner or beneficiary could possibly make the claim even though they don't get paid regular wage. For companies if directors are paid directors fees or if share holders are paid a dividend then they could also qualify for the payment. So my advice is , review your business turnover and if you meet the income reduction then register your interest on the following link https://www.ato.gov.au/job-keeper-payment It takes no more than 1 minute. All you need is the business name, ABN , Contact person, email and mobile phone, that's all. Keep safe and informed Graeme

23.01.2022 WHAT EXACTLY IS THE JOB KEEPER PAYMENT AND AM I ENTITLED TO IT? The JobKeeper Payment is a payment made to eligible businesses and not-for-profits affected by the Coronavirus to support them in retaining employees.... Eligible businesses that elect to participate will receive a payment of $1,500 per fortnight per eligible employee to support the people they employed as at 1 March 2020 who are retained in employment. Businesses must have paid their employees before they are entitled to receive the JobKeeper payment. Where an employee’s total remuneration is less than $1,500 per fortnight (before tax), or has been stood down, the employer must provide the employee at least $1,500 per fortnight (before tax). Where anemployee earns more than $1,500 per fortnight, employers can use the payment to subsidise the employee’s wages. Self-employed individuals will also be eligible to receive the JobKeeper payment. WHEN WILL THE JOBKEEPER PAYMENT COMMENCE? The JobKeeper Payment will be available from 30 March 2020. HOW LONG WILL THE JOBKEEPER PAYMENT LAST FOR? The JobKeeper Payment will be available for the period until 27 September 2020. There is a lot of information regarding the Job Keeper Payment now that legislation has been pasted by the government. Below is a link to the treasury website with a fact sheet with all relative information so far. As always feel free to contact us if you are having any difficulties following the scheme and the changes that follow. https://treasury.gov.au//JobKeeper_frequently_asked_questi

15.01.2022 Instant Asset Write-Off tax boost extended!!! The Federal Government has extended the instant Write Off on assets purchased for another 6 months. The scheme brought in due to the pandemic was going to end at July 1 but Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has declared the arrangement will remain until the end of 2020. ... Businesses earning up to 50 million will be allowed to instantly write off assets valued up to $150,000 and receive a tax deduction for the amount of the purchase price of the asset. This can apply to multiple assets. The Federal Government are hopeful that by extending the scheme it will allow businesses to invest in the economy. 14.01.2022 Business Monday. Business name : RKG Electrical Services P/L Business type : Electrical Services, domestic & commercial... Products/services : Domestic electrical upgrades, new home electrical, renovations and extensions, as well as a range of commercial electrical services. Over 10 years experience. At 28, Richard decided he would begin and Electrical Apprenticeship. With the maturity of age behind him, he decided afterwards to leap straight into running his own business. The first few years were tough, building a reputation and managing his cash flow. But as time went on and we worked out and understood BAS, GST and simple accounting, it all started to fall into place. In time we put on an apprentice, who is now about to enter his final year. We also now have a huge amount of local and other work. We work in schools, banks, gyms, cafés and homes as their regular electrician and they continue to recommend us. What is one tip you can give for running your own business? Firstly, call people back and treat clients as you wish to be treated! Because if you don’t, someone else will! ;) And remember that even small jobs are worth the time, they can lead to more work and great referrals. What is the best part about having your own business? Definitely the flexibility that comes with being your own boss. It’s more work for sure, but being able to choose when you want holidays, and how long you want them for etc. is a bonus. One tip from a sparky : Check things are still plugged in AND turned on AND the safety switch hasn’t tripped before calling an electrician, to save embarrassment later. If you are looking to get electrical work done give Richard a call. BONUS OFFER: All new clients will receive a 10% discount on all works until the end of 2020 when you mention to Richard about us. 10.01.2022 End of Year Tax Planning Tip for Superannuation With everybody affected by Covid, the end of the financial year has come in a hurry and we are only 12 days away. Are you maximizing your contributions into superannuation?... The government now allows you to contribute some of your own money into superannuation and claim it as a tax deduction. Here is how it works: Let's say you are an employee earning $60,000 a year. Your employer would have contributed $5,700 into your superannuation account. The government now allows you to top up to a maximum of $25,000 and any funds you contribute can be claimed as a personal tax deduction in your 2020 tax return. The positive outcome is: 1) You get a tax deduction for the amount you contributed 2) You are putting funds away for your long-term retirement which can only be a good thing. If you were thinking about doing it please make sure you get it done prior to the 30th of June to be able to claim the tax deduction in the current year. If you have any queries please contact us. Keep safe Tuplin Accounting
