20.01.2022 DANCE 2021 - #5 - NEW NOVICE "OPEN" SECTIONS At the request of some entrants, we have added 6 new "open" age sections to our Novice category - one for each of the styles of dance it contains. 19.01.2022 DANCE 2021 - Covid Update We are pleased to let you know that so far (fingers crossed) there have been no further changes to the Covid restrictions for community sport after they were relaxed a bit late last year. * There is NO restriction on people travelling to attend the event.... * Parents and spectators are allowed to attend. * People must still keep 1.5 metres away from people who are not from their household. * We can accommodate up to 1 person per 2 square metres in the Hall at any one time (down from 1 person per 4 sqm last time). * Keeping records of those who attend is highly desirable. We will of course still need to have a current Covid-Safe Plan for our event and take certain steps to help minimize the potential spread of Covid.

18.01.2022 Thank you to the committee and volunteers for a wonderful Grafton Eisteddfod. The students were so happy to be dancing again on stage and the atmosphere is always one of mutual support. We will see you again next year.

16.01.2022 DANCE - PHOTOS AND THE NEWSPAPERS After our eisteddfod is over, we send the results to the local newspaper. This year, we would also like to send in some great action shots that they might like to use too. There are 3 papers - The Daily Examiner (which is now only online); The Clarence Valley Independent, and the Northern Rivers Times (which is very new).... During the week after our event, BWP Studios will be looking through the enormous number of photos they have taken, and will make up a possible set for us to send to these newspapers. They will be looking for a range of age groups, dance styles, poses etc. They will then contact the parents, and seek permission for us to send those photos the newspapers.

11.01.2022 DANCE - IT'S ALL OVER We made it ! Dance 2020 is over and we've had a wonderful week. Well done to all our entrants - you were a joy to watch. You all shone despite the challenges of missed classes, changed teaching arrangements and not as much practice as you'd have liked.... Many thanks to all who came for your understanding and co-operation with all our Covid changes and new processes this year. Your help made everything flow smoothly. Thank you to our Adjudicator for your supportive and encouraging feedback to our dancers. Thank you to BWP Studios for being able to come to film and photograph the performances - so all those family and friends who were'nt allowed to come don't miss out completely. Last but not least, thank you to all our volunteers - without whom we wouldn't have been able to hold this event.

10.01.2022 DANCE - Our ADJUDICATOR - PAMELA CRAMP I absolutely love to adjudicate." says our lovely Adjudicator, Pamela Cramp. Pamela started training at a young age, studying with Dianne Talbot and Margo Kerr in Newcastle at the renowned Talbot School of Dance. She studied all facets of dance and is accredited with the following syllabi-... AICD Australia Institute of Classical Dance RAD Royal Academy of Dance Glenn Wood Tap- GWT Les Griffith (LGTDA) Australian Acrobatics Association- (level two coaching credentials) Jazz, Hip Hop, Cabaret/ Burlesque, Modern, Contemporary & Lyrical Cheerleading AASCF (level 2 coaching credentials) Vocal and Musical theatre A successful studio owner of 30 years, her past and present students have been involved heavily with eisteddfods, and have performed both here and abroad in professional shows in casino and show venues, on television, in the media, on cruise ships - and many have become wonderful teachers themselves. Pamela feels very fortunate to have had the opportunity to pass on her expertise and knowledge to her students and that she is now apply her knowledge to adjudicating. Pamela is a very proud ambassador for DACAU (Dancers against Cancer Australia), and her former studio was the first Australian HOPE studio to help raise money for this very important cause. She also holds a Citizen of the Year" award for her work with Children with Disabilities over the years.

The last day for entries is Sunday 28 February. ... You can look at or download the Schedule from the "Competitions" tab on our website, along with the paper entry form.

08.01.2022 DANCE 2021 - #4 - PROPS As we are still in a Covid environment, we will use the same rules for props as we had late last year. A maximum of 2 props are allowed per performance.... A prop must usually be hand held (eg flower, scarf, basket ) but can include one chair. Props not being hand-held throughout the performance must be placed on stage and then removed afterwards by the entrant. For those aged 6 years and under, a parent / carer can assist with this. No other furniture or no large cardboard stage pieces are permitted. As previously mentioned, props must be cleaned before and after the performance. Disinfectant wipes and spray will be available backstage. Storing small cleaned props in a bag is recommended. Props should remain with the entrant or their parent. Storage of props in the staging area, change rooms, foyer etc is not permitted. Marks will be deducted if the Adjudicator feels the props rule has been breached. These requirements are consistent with what most other eisteddfods are doing at present. Lack of safe storage, OH&S concerns, and concerns over contamination from stored props continue to be the issues.
