20.01.2022 POV 24/10/2020 Due to grand finals happening, people away, and the look of rain, only a bakers dozen of the best cyclist showed up to 'strut there stuff' this morning. It didn't take long for the handicapper to do his thing, so before you knew it, Mr Robbo was started off 'Go" In what could have been mistaken for a sequel to the motion picture classic, Driving Miss Daisy, Mr Don and Mr Tim headed off at the 4-minute mark. They knew it was only a matter of time before Mr Garre...tt and Mr Paul(who left 1min after) would round them up. It was a match made in heaven with Mr Garrett descending like Lindsey Vonn in the downhill and Mr Paul picking up the ascents. Heading back from the second turn, the bunch became one. The happy crew made a pact to see if they could stay together and hold out the chasers. They did this effectively, tapping up Trenayr Hill and picking up Mr Robbo on the way. It became obvious that the game plan had worked as the bunch descended Baileys Hill for the last time. With the lyrics of the Toby Keith classic, I’m as good once as I ever was, Mr Garrett threw discretion to the wind and attacked. The attack may have been a little premature. It turned out to be a more memorable fade than the Beach Boys Classic, Help me Rhonda. This left Mr Tim in the unfamiliar position of leading out with about 250m to go with Mr Paul tight on the wheel. Mr Paul seized the opportunity to come around on the line for the win, edging out Mr Tim by half a wheel with Mr Garrett holding on for a respectable 3rd. Mr Don was not far off the pace, with Mr Robbo finishing strongly. Meanwhile there was another race happening behind the winners, that money can't buy. The healthy rivalry between Mr Jye & Mr Ezz, and Mr Dallas back to add to the suspense, and the ever reliable Mr Blake. They were 9mins 30sec behind 'Go' and 2 mins behind the strong chopping block, consisting of Ms Laurealea, Mr Nicko and my Garry. When these 2 groups got together, it was poetry in motion, until the last turn towards the finish. I've heard a few different versions of what happened next. But my POV my version :-). Mr Garry was on the front, Mr Jye made his move from the top of Bailey's, Mr Ezz didn't see this until it was to late. Congratulations to Paul for the win, Timmy 2nd and Garrett 3rd. Fastest time, 29 min ish to Jye. This was faster than last week. Come one, come all. Join the fun this Saturday, 7:30 start :-) Special mention to Phoenix who came for a taste of racing today. He rode well and seemed to be carrying his bunch. Hope you enjoyed the hit out Phoenix. Thanks to Mr Dave, Mr Rob and commissaire Doc Michael. See more
18.01.2022 POV 31/10/2020 After waking up with two cats , a dog and a daughter in my room due to some lightning and thunder, I didn't think racing was going to go ahead. I'm glad the race director had made the tough decision to race. Rumor has it that after some to ing and fro ing with some cyclists, and a bit of technical support(BOM) , he decided to run the guantlet and make everyone race. Fast forward to 7:30 it seems like this intelligent and good looking race director had made th...Continue reading
18.01.2022 The Boys were out in force last Thursday for a ripper triple lapper on some of our old fave tracks. Welcome back Rusty and a big welcome to Howard Avery who is ...making full use of his AusCycling approved CA licence to race on the dirt and getting his brand new gravel grinder Norco dusty at last. It's well known that Cyclo Cross is a gateway to the hard stuff so i expect Santa will be bringing a full Sus MTB to Bacon St this year. And it is Howard who has won the chook being not just close but spot on his nominated speed. - Great work Howard. Second is James and Brendan on the low podium step. Fastest time and fastest lap was Grant again. This Thursday i will unveil this Sunday's Rooster Race route - If it is too hot we will do a social reccy lap and early refreshments rather than a race so turn up regardless of the heat. Dont forget to sign up for the rooster via the event link here https://www.facebook.com/events/403798537467778 ebikes and road race licences welcome -come see what all the fuss is about

08.01.2022 Blessed are the Bridge Builders. - with 2 new bridges in Death Gully needing ride tested Last nights Chook Race took us over both in a short fast lap and aftlr ...4 and5 laps that was plenty of bedding in. They are both amazing to ride over and look like they will last even longer than the originals. Racing was pretty competitive at the pointy end with Max Rose one of Bom Bom's original junior riders turning up out of the blue from his new home town of Canberra where he clearly rides a lot. Fastest time and fastest laps to Max- hope to see you some more over the break. Brendan and James were swapping the front for second until James had a small lie down in the third lap long enough for Brendan to get away but not for long enough for Pete to catch up. Benny and Marc continue to punch out consistent lap times and no shorts Steve had a late start due to a wardrobe malfunction but cleared his 4 Laps with less chaffing than could have been. It was Steelcap Brad who won the chook -being right on his nominated speed. I am away next week til 27 Jan - Pete will have the gear if you want to organise a race put something on messenger. or just post when you are going out for a social ride and invite others to join. Hope you all get eBikes from Santa or a new Auscycling membership. Merry Christmas
