24.01.2022 Happy Easter from all the team at GP+S! A friendly reminder that we will be closed from Friday 2nd April - Monday 5th April. See you again on Tuesday 6th. Happy Holidays!
24.01.2022 To our amazing patients, Thankyou so much for your continued patience & co-operation. In light of recent developments here is where we are up to: * From Monday 10th August all of our staff, for your protection, will be wearing masks. This is the recommendation of the Australian Physiotheraphy Association. * If you have a mask, we would be grateful if you can wear it too (except in a gym class) especially in our small reception area. * Thankyou, please continue to wait in your... cars as with 4m rule, only 1 patient can wait in our waiting room at a time. * Any sniffles, coughs or colds - get tested & stay home until all is clear. * Any trips to hot spots or interstate - come & see us AFTER 14 days. * When re-booking or paying, please be nimble with the COVID tango & jump out front and back in if there are too many people in the waiting room. Thanks for your understanding GP&S team See more
23.01.2022 April is Parkinson's Awareness Month. Parkinson's disease is a progressive disorder that affects the brain, specifically the cells that produce dopamine. Dopamine helps transmit nerve impulses related to movement and co-ordination. In the early stages of Parkinson's, symptoms are often very subtle - stiff movement, a slight tremor in one hand or no arm swing when walking. As the disease progresses, balance, posture and automatic movements can be affected along with thinking ...difficulties facial expression smell and swallowing. Symptoms usually start over age 50 although 1 in 20 experience symptoms under age 40, with men more likely than women to get Parkinson's. One in every 340 people in Australia lives with Parkinson’s disease. No definitive cause has been identified for Parkinson's, but there are a number of things that may increase risk such as genetics, environment and exposure to toxins; and some things like aerobic exercise are thought to be mildly protective. Best management includes medication to help Dopamine, rarely surgery, alongside Physiotherapy to help with movement. Parkinson's usually progress slowly over many years, so establishing an early link with your GP, neurologist and physio is important to best manage symptoms and develop an exercise program to preserve function and quality of life. 15.01.2022 IMPORTANT - COVID UPDATE AS OF MARCH 2021 Please call our clinic on (02) 6643 5646 and advise our team if any of the following criteria apply to you so we can reschedule your appointment: New South Wales Health is advising people against non-essential travel to the Greater Brisbane area.... Anyone with even the mildest of symptoms in the Byron Bay area which was visited by two infectious people from the Brisbane cluster is urged to get tested for COVID-19 and self-isolate immediately. Anyone who has been in Greater Brisbane since March 20 must comply with the same stay-at-home restrictions that apply to Greater Brisbane. This means they have to stay at home, except for essential reasons, like food shopping, work, medical care and exercise. Travelers arriving in NSW must complete a self-declaration form if they have been in the Brisbane, Logan, Moreton Bay, Ipswich and Redland local government areas in the previous 14 days. This form must be completed regardless of how you cross the border and either before or upon entry to NSW. Travelers who have visited a "close contact venue" in Queensland must not enter or transit through NSW unless they are a NSW resident. Those returning residents must immediately get tested and self-isolate.
