02.01.2022 Yesterday a major flood warning was announced for the Clarence River with flooding to occur along the Clarence River at Grafton and moderate flooding along the Clarence River at Ulmarra and Maclean. The Clarence Valley State Emergency Service (SES) was immediately mobilised and volunteers deployed across the Valley. With the flood waters predicted to peak in Grafton, the team at Clarence Correctional Centre reached out to Grafton SES to see how we could support them in their ...efforts. The SES suggested assistance in catering for the volunteers and staff would be something that would take the pressure off and allow focus to continue on supporting community safety. The kitchens at Clarence Correctional Centre currently produce over 3300 meals each day to feed inmates and staff so this request was something that the centre was easily able to accommodate. Staff and inmates worked together to prepare, cook and deliver the meals which Serco will be continuing to drop off fresh each day to the SES team throughout this unpredictable event.
