24.01.2022 We are so lucky to live in the beautiful Grampians National Park and see Australia's wildlife every day. There are quite a few wallabies around, but they are not as common as the Grey Kangaroos that are abundant here. This picture is of Red Necked Wallaby. Keep your eyes open for these guys next time you come to visit us here at the Eco Lodge. #YHAoz #wallaby #nature #grampiansnationalpark #grampiansecoyha #aussie

24.01.2022 When managing a YHA, you never know who you'll get to meet... It was a real pleasure to host Phil Anderson and his partner Annie for the past 2 days here at the Eco Lodge. Phil is a Tour de France, Yellow jersey winner (1981 & '82) and is quite a bit of a legend in cycling circles. Kellie's family have always had a big interest in cycling, so it was a wonderful surprise for her to meet one of Australia's cycling greats.... Thanks for sharing your time with us Phil; it was a real privilege to meet you and share some cycling stories. We hope to see you back here again sometime soon. Take care out there on the road and enjoy the rest of your trip. #cycling #yhaoz #aussielegend #grampiansecoyha #philanderson

20.01.2022 Yes, it's true.......during lock-down in Victoria, Kellie has been keeping busy and productive crocheting for family, friends, charities and the new pup!! 3 granny square blankets, 4 dog jumpers, numerous possum pouches, bird nests, beanies and premature baby beanies are just some of the creations that have been produced. Crocheting is a very relaxing activity and one that can produce some beautiful goods. It is also believed to help with stress and mental health, something... that everyone has had to deal with during the Covid-19 pandemic. Feel free to bring your hook or knitting needles next time you visit (if it's your thing) and enjoy relaxing even more while here in the Grampians! #grampiansecoyha #crochetlove #crocheting #stressfree #relax #myhappyplace See more

20.01.2022 One our very dear friends, Katherine Van Lent took this amazing photo just the other day. She hiked Briggs Bluff and Mt. Difficult and was very impressed with what she saw at the top of both. We just had to share it. #grampiansnationalpark #yhaoz #grampiansecoyha #theview #spring #myhappyplace

19.01.2022 What a beautiful day it was here at the Grampians Eco Lodge . The orchard is looking green and the native flowers are in full bloom. We look forward to welcoming more guests back to this beautiful part of Victoria

19.01.2022 The amazing Silo art trail is right on our doorstep and this is just a fraction of it. With beautiful art, big skies and great little towns along the way, it's a must see. Support more of regional Victoria on your next visit to the Eco Lodge and enjoy more of your own backyard. #yhaoz #siloarttrail #bigskies #aussie #victoria

18.01.2022 The chickens are here and waiting for you to come and feed them. As we are an Eco Lodge, we are all about recycling. The chooks love your food scraps and in return, they are happy to lay some eggs, which if you are quick enough, you can enjoy for free! But they need to see you.....so book your weekend away now! https://www.yha.com.au//regional-vict/grampians-halls-gap/... #yhaoz #chicken #freerange #eggs #grampiansecoyha

17.01.2022 It's all about Kangaroos today... If you want to see Australia's iconic species, then you need to come to the Grampians and stay at the Eco Lodge. Here's a snipit from our backyard. Enjoy #yhaoz #kangaroo #aussie #grampiansnationalpark #grampiansecoyha

17.01.2022 Things look a little different these days! Check out what Halls Gap town used to look like... #hallsgap #grampiansnationalpark #oldschool #yhaoz #aussie

17.01.2022 It's NAIDOC week and to give the Eco lodge an indigenous feel this week, we will be playing indigenous music in our common spaces for our guests to enjoy. This article on indigenous Australian composers is one that should peak your interest and show you the talented artists that are out there making amazing sounds and opening everyone up to our Indigenous roots. It's something that has been missing in our country for a very long time and one that we should all embrace. And with a truly indigenous feel to it, the Grampians (Gariwerd) is the place to be this week.

15.01.2022 Grampians Eco Lodge is very happy to announce that we have a new member of staff................ Meet Whispa! He is a blue Whippet and he arrived here in mid August. Born May 31st, 2020, he arrived at 12 weeks and is now almost 5 months old. As you can see, has has grown quite a bit since he arrived and Kellie has been very busy crocheting coats for him. He's here waiting for you to come and say Hello! And we can't wait for you to visit us either. #YHAoz #whippetlife #socute #puppy #grampiansecoyha

13.01.2022 OMG!!! Do you like fudge? I know I do! And did you know that fudge is sold here in Halls Gap? And it is the most amazing fudge that I have ever eaten! The Smugglers Hearth is located at the Stony Creek Stores in the heart of Halls Gap and they have a great little selection of fudge. I recently devoured some Salted Butterscotch, Butterscotch and Peppermint fudge!! I also purchased some Rocky Road and some Chocolate & Chilli - but they're a gift - so have put them away!!!... You really need to treat yourself the next time you are here and get yourself some fudge! You know you want to!! #fudge #holidayherethisyear #yhaoz #grampiansecoyha #delicioussweets #delicioustreat #icantstopeatingfudge https://unsplash.com/photos/-wWa12jXU9M

11.01.2022 Regional Victoria, this is your last chance to get to the Grampians before all the Melbournians head here from the 9th November. We have rooms available this long weekend and with the weather looking good, it's a great time to do some bushwalking and take in all that the National Park has to offer. There are even some specials on our website. What are you waiting for? www.yha.com.au/hos//regional-victoria/grampians-halls-gap/

09.01.2022 Here is another amazing Aussie animal that you might spot while visiting the Grampians National Park - the Echidna. They are not often seen, but they are more common on the less walked tracks and sometimes by the roadside. Keep an eye out for what can look like a moving rock! And give them some space if you do see one. They are very shy and will burrow into the earth extremely quickly if they feel threatened. They are 1 of only 2 egg-laying mammals in Australia, the other ...being the Platypus. And if you didn't already know, baby Echidna's are called "Puggles". Maybe you will see one on your next visit to the Grampians Eco YHA. #echidna #yhaoz #grampiansecoyha #aussie #grampiansnationalpark Image by pen_ash via Pixabay https://pixabay.com/users/pen_ash-5526837/

06.01.2022 It's great news for our friends at Grampians Helicopters...able to fly again from today for Regional Victorians. Why don't you take a flight with them and then relax and unwind here at the Eco Lodge? http://www.grampianshelicopters.com.au/

04.01.2022 THE LESS VISITED SPOTS ARE ALWAYS THE BEST!! This little number came from a week long road trip spent along the great ocean road straight after regional vice wa...s aloud to travel again. Over that week I got 2 great sky's and mostly windy wet and overcast conditions and although I love the coast I was really missing a solo hike in the mountains so I took the long way home and went for one last sunset and boy did it deliver. This was my 2nd time hiking up Mount Abrupt & the 1st was met with a total white out and this particular day was forecast for strong winds and 100% low cloud but if wasn't really about the photo it was all about enjoining a great hike in the Grampians. Well as you can see it turned out to be a pretty darn good night and this is the boring side of the sunset (shot actually facing sunrise) the other side of the mountain was going off with amazing colour but I was so excited about this composition I stuck with it and I'm glad I did as I absolutely love this comp and it definitely won't be the last time I'll be shooting this comp that's for sure. What do you think strong comp or raging colour? 04.01.2022 Went for a lovely drive to Dunkeld and then came back to Halls Gap on the Victoria Valley Road. This really is a beautiful drive. We were lucky to see 5 Wedge-tailed Eagles, numerous Emus and a few wallabies. It's such a peaceful drive and one that not many tourists take. Maybe you should check it out next time you are here??
