23.01.2022 Business of the Week - Grampians Estate One of the great wineries located within an easy drive of Ararat is undoubtedly Grampians Estate at Great Western. Tom ...and Sarah Guthrie have been developing their range of wines for over 20 years in which time Grampians Estate has emerged as one of the region’s premier boutique wineries. The redevelopment of the Grampians Estate Cellar Door at Great Western is now open. A large extension, a new deck and a new kitchen will provide double the previous space to provide a light lunch menu with a beautiful view over the historic St Ethels Vineyard vines, the earliest of which date back to 1878. The project was supported with a grant from the Victorian Governments Wine Growth Fund, a very successful program assisting wine businesses and associations across Victoria to develop and grow wine tourism, creating jobs and economic activity. Grampians Estate is a family owned business which began producing wine in 1995 from its base at Mafeking south of Moyston. It 2009 It purchased the former Garden Gully Cellar Door and vineyard, providing a valuable outlet and shopfront for its growing business. A James Halliday 5 star winery, Grampians Estate has collected many accolades over the years, its most recent being the Premier’s Trophy for Champion Victorian Wine at the 2019 Victorian Wine Show for its 2017 St Ethels Great Western Shiraz. As business has slowed down due to COVID-19, Grampians Estate has put together an innovative offer - the ‘Covid-19 Dozen. It includes two of each of the following 2018 Mafeking Shiraz, 2019 Woolclassers GST, 2019 Drovers Rose, 2019 Mafeking Gold Chardonnay, 2018 Rhymney Shiraz and 2014 Barrel Block Shiraz. The Cellar Door is open every day. Due to COVID-19, hours have slightly reduced 10am to 4pm. Bookings for lunch are preferred.
