13.01.2022 We are open for business! Oh what a journey it has been here at the Grampians Retreat, in our short time following in big footsteps! One minute high pressure jobs in Sydney, next minute surrounded by the most amazing natural environment you could hope for. We are very pleased to say that we had our first camp over the June long weekend, as new owners, and couldn’t have wished for a better group of people to start with! Thanks guys, you were truly awesome! A big shout out to... our family and our Grampians Retreat Team who worked so hard to get us ready and deliver a rewarding escape for all . Even better, following the announcement from Daniel Andrews and the Victorian Government yesterday, we are now fully (COVID ready and safe) open for business, minus such severe restrictions, and welcome all school, group and family enquiries moving forward! With 80 acres of conservation bush land, river flats, wetlands and unique flora and wildlife waiting for you to explore, we can most certainly meet your social distancing requirements! Not to mention we border The Grampians National Park, part of the Gariwerd Aboriginal cultural landscape. The National Park has world-famous hiking trails (from the Grampians Retreat!), majestic waterfalls, dazzling spring wildflower displays and awe-inspiring mountain panoramas. It’s highly accessible on foot, or by bike and is Heritage-listed for its animal and plant life, some rare and unique to the region. What’s not to love! Please give us a call or check out www.grampiansretreat.com.au.

10.01.2022 As we celebrate NAIDOC Week 2020 at Grampians Retreat, we are very honoured to share with you our own Grampians Retreat painting, gifted to us by the very talented, and proud local Jardwardjali Artist, Nerissa Major. It represents the two traditional custodians of the land Grampians Retreat resides near, the Jardwadjali and Djab Wurrung first nations peoples and their connections through the land, It also represents the three peaks at the southern end of the Geriwerd. Mud-...dadjug (Mt Abrupt), which is the mountain we are located at the base of, as well as Wurgarri (Mt Sturgeon) and Bainggug (the Picaninny), which are just next door! Grampians National Park (Geriwerd) is one of the richest Indigenous rock art sites in south-eastern Australia and was listed on the National Heritage List for its natural beauty as well as its past and continuing Aboriginal cultural associations. The Geriwerd is home to about 90% of the states rock art! We are very grateful for the beautiful artwork gifted to Grampians Retreat, by Nerissa Major, which tells "our" story, and we pay our respects to Nerissa, and all custodians, and our first nations elders, past, present and future. We are spiritually and culturally connected to this country. NAIDOC Week 2020 acknowledges and celebrates that our nation’s story didn’t begin with documented European contact whether in 1770 or 1606 - with the arrival of the Dutch on the western coast of the Cape York Peninsula. The very first footprints on this continent were those belonging to First Nations peoples. Our coastal Nations watched and interacted with at least 36 contacts made by Europeans prior to 1770. Many of them resulting in the charting of the northern, western and southern coastlines of our lands and our waters. For us, this nation’s story began at the dawn of time. NAIDOC 2020 invites all Australians to embrace the true history of this country a history which dates back thousands of generations. It’s about seeing, hearing and learning the First Nations’ 65,000+ year history of this country - which is Australian history. We want all Australians to celebrate that we have the oldest continuing cultures on the planet and to recognise that our sovereignty was never ceded. Always Was, Always Will Be. #naidoc2020 #alwayswasalwayswillbe

09.01.2022 Two glorious days at Grampians Retreat with the sun shining, the bees buzzing, the birds bathing and a Joey giving us a high-five....or a wave Either way, he is definitely saying to everyone, hello....it’s time for a visit! What’s not to love about a spring day on 80 acres of walking trails, wildflowers, river flats, wetlands and ancient grass tree forests!

08.01.2022 It’s been a very busy, and delightfully warm couple of days for our School Campers this week, who were so excited to finally be out on school camp again, experiencing new things after such a challenging time last year. Our students went home today reinvigorated, reconnected and READY for an awesome year of learning and growth, together. Time for rest, and snuggles for our mob, and gorgeous home-grown blood plums, baby grapes and nectarines from our fabulous Bev, the Doyenn...e of our Grampians Retreat Kitchen! Thanks Bev! We have spent our time wisely over the last six months growing and nurturing delicious, organic produce for our groups this year, and we can’t wait for you all to enjoy many nutritious, yummy treats! You are going to need it with the adventures we have in store! grampiansretreat.com.au [email protected]

08.01.2022 We have some fantastic and very talented Year 11’s on camp this week. They scaled Mud-Dadjug (Mt Abrupt) yesterday in a Grampians Retreat record time of just over 3 hours...return! Today they did group initiatives on the revamped low ropes course and faced personal fears on the Giant Swing and Flying Fox.... Tying together their experience of the land they are camping on, and personal growth, they also embarked on a cultural journey, learning about the significant First Australian landmarks at Grampians Retreat and in the Geriwerd (Grampians). They gained insight into the methods used by the traditional custodians of this land to find food, read weather patterns and observe animal behaviour. They took these learnings and created bark images of their elements, traditionally assigned at birth, and their names. There were some really insightful and wonderful reflections in these sessions, and some pretty awesome artwork! #Jardwadjali #DjabWurrung #GrampiansRetreat

07.01.2022 3 weeks work. Border contained. Such success to be celebrated! Another 5 months to find a home for all. We're all in this together - a 6 month plan. Steady & slow, no overnight fame needed. Routine, calm, exercise, fresh air, good food, stay in touch.

05.01.2022 Spring has certainly sprung here at the Retreat with the Grampians putting on a spectacular wildflower show right in our back yard! We ventured out along the Nature Trail and the Heathland Trail to get some shots. Whilst we know some, we are trying to identify the diverse and huge range of wildflowers on the property. If you know any of these, feel free to let us know in the comments! Why not come and have a look yourself? You can camp, bring your van or book an af...fordable family cabin through AirBnB now, in a safe environment, over 80 acres, if you are in the region through the criteria of level 3 restrictions. #GrampiansRetrest #GrampiansWildflower

04.01.2022 Check out our Year 4 Campers enjoying the Grampians Retreat Explore Nature activity. They are exploring the ecosystems in the Wannon River, which runs through our property, identifying the diverse water species, organisms and flora. Our local Landcare Facilitator Lisa, teaches students about ecology, biodiversity, land management and the natural environment through hands on learning. The students are learning, by doing, deepening their knowledge and skills through personal e...xperience, away from their everyday life. Outdoor education activities like Grampians Retreats’ Explore Nature program are an essential part of every students education! It also allows students to play an active role in preserving, nurturing and renewing the environment we live in. Bringing nature into the classroom can kindle a fascination and passion for the diversity of life on earth and can motivate a sense of responsibility to safeguard it. Sir David Attenborough The immersion in nature, experiences and challenges that students have at Grampians Retreat gives them tangible skills to assist them for the rest of their lives! Term 2, 3 and 4 are booking up very fast! To secure your School Camp spot in 2021 or 2022, please email us at [email protected] or call us on 03 5577 2257 today.
