24.01.2022 Huw and brother Evan at the start of 'Flake of Fear' in Summer-day Valley. Evan made short work of the crux start.
24.01.2022 Beautiful weather this past weekend. Two days guiding Chloe Stella at Bushranger's Bluff, Mount Arapiles. She was a voracious learner, and on the second day of tuition she lead her first few trad climbs, in style. Pictured below on 'Cobb & Co', as she contemplates the right piece to place; and then on the two star classic, 'Revolver Crack'. For her first outdoor weekend, she appears to have the hang of chimney climbing. Well done Chloe, and a big hi to your dad and a credit to him (Mark Stella) for the awesome photography.
23.01.2022 Kat and Kristie showing good footwork on the start crux of 'Flake of Fear'. They did a two-day course with GMAC and constructed this top-rope anchor themselves. Learning how to safely construct an anchor is the first step in our lead-climbing courses.
18.01.2022 Tori pictured with happy clients - Marcus and Ying Ying, visiting from Singapore. We received this picture and a big thankyou from the couple. Glad you enjoyed your trip and keep going with the climbing!
17.01.2022 Day two of our lead-climbing course with Kat and Kristie. Kat is pictured leading confidently on Tropper Wall. She looked like she had been leading for years - very sound gear placements and calm demeanor. Kristie is also pictured, stemming her way through the corner system of 'Cobb & Co' at Bushranger's Bluff, Mount Arapiles. Great work girls!
16.01.2022 Pictured is Neelan and Rob; a couple of guys from Sydney on a trip to the Grampians and Mount Arapiles, to learn the arts of trad climbing. The first day of tuition took place in Summer-day Valley, and day two took us to Mount Arapiles. The guys did great; both completing their first trad leads. Weather was great, and as you can see in the 5th pic, the pro was bomber!
14.01.2022 Amanda and Chris braving a hot day to learn anchor systems and they did very well considering. Chris is just about to undertake 'Eat More Parsley' on Back Wall - Summer-day Valley.
12.01.2022 Christian 'Sizza' Sirianni and fiancé Portia Morgan also took advantage of the long weekend, booking Grampians Mountain Adventure Company for two days. We did a refresher course on anchor systems and gear placements, and day two we moved on to trad leading. Portia was relatively new to the sport, and Christian was looking to consolidate on some skills learned a few years ago. On Sunday, I captured some great photos of Christian leading 'Longbow' after a cruising 'Revolver Crack'. Portia is all smiles on belay.
05.01.2022 Pictured is a group of beginner climbers top-roping with GMAC on 'The Wall of Fools' in Summerday Valley a few days ago. It was an enjoyable morning, pictured is Harris belaying, Paul tying in and the smiling woman to the far right is Teresa, just about to start climbing. Teresa appears to be the only person aware of the camera!
04.01.2022 Tori pictured with visiting friend James Rohde, at the base of MacKenzie Falls. This is James's first visit to the Grampians National Park. It's a real pleasure to show people around this wonderful area.
03.01.2022 Tom Randla booked us for a day of anchor and trad gear tuition, he took to the content quickly and was building his first top-rope anchors by lunch. Here is Tom, looking contemplative and quite satisfied with himself. Good job Tom, see you when you come back to do some leading!
03.01.2022 We had a great day out with Naveen and group (all Ph.D engineering students studying in Melbourne). Here are a few photographs from the day.
01.01.2022 Ross and Alex made their way to Arapiles to take advantage of the AFL Grand Final long weekend. I had worked with Ross and Alex earlier in the year; and they returned to (you guessed it) learn how to trad climb. Ross lead confidently, with a bunch of shiny new gear I handed over to him that morning. Pictured is Ross leading 'Little Revolver Crack', being belayed by Alex. A few days after the session, I got a text from Ross, titled 'Safe'. It was a picture of a cordalette anchor he had constructed after leading a climb in Summer-Day Valley. Good job Ross - which route was that, Overkill?
