23.01.2022 GRAMS and Peter Kenyon from Bank of IDEAS have been travelling to Mt Magnet and Carnarvon to facilitate suicide prevention workshops for contribution towards the development of local Community Safety Action Plans around Suicide Prevention and Mental Well-being. The Suicide Prevention Trial Team have met and connected with the local Men’s Group, the Women’s Group, PCYC and Real Futures in Carnarvon and Mt Magnet where the groups shared their knowledge of the community, discuss...ed the impacts of suicide, mental health and social and emotional wellbeing in the Community. The success was largely attributed to the collaboration and support of various stakeholders, Hearing Australia, Population Health Carnarvon, Carnarvon Aboriginal Medical Service and the ABC Foundation who provided us with a great venue at Mungullah village. His role involves coordinating multidisciplinary care for clients who have multiple, complex or significant chronic conditions. His favourite part about his role is helping people manage their condition and improving their health, particularly with clients newly diagnosed with non-terminal cancer. ... 10.01.2022 The Geraldton PCYC and the GRAMS Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) team is supporting youth wellbeing through friendly sport competitions. The pool competition winner, Michael Ryan, played against ten other boys, taking home a $50 Sports Power gift voucher. 02.01.2022 The TIS team enjoyed delivering the NAIDOC Drum Beat and Smoking Education program in September to Waggrakine Primary School and Mullewa District High School. The team also had a great time facilitating the program weekly at Geraldton PCYC. The Drum Beat program is a fun and engaging program that helps students connect, share ideas and experiences. The TIS team looks forward to helping more students achieve positive social and emotional outcomes through the program.
