07.01.2022 Good morning, everyone! ...Rob here. Just a short market update, on Winter Fruits and Veggies as we enter the season of cooler weather. And keep in mind, that COVID19 has played a HUGE part in pricing.... Nashi, Ya, Asia, and Brown Pear - Available now Nectarine White and Yellow/Peaches White and yellow Have finished for the season, and we are awaiting U.S.A. fruit to arrive Plums have (generally) finished. Blueberries/Raspberries - Available now. Generally eat well but can be hit and miss at this time of the year. White Cherry (YUM!) Waiting for those to arrive in the middle of the year from the U.S. Oranges Valencia are just about finished as we await the arrival of Aussie navels. And even then, they will take as few weeks before they are sweet. Winter bananas are here, and will begin to have grey skin as of this week. Australian Imperial has begun for the year (still tart for another couple of weeks), and American variety is finishing. Kiwi - Green and Golden, are still available. Strawberries - are good, but still hit and miss. Grapes Seedless, Red, Green and AMAZING black grapes are available, but Green are still ‘hit and miss’. Honey-Dew and Rockmelon - are still available, and in decent condition. Winter root veggies are in full swing. Beetroot, Swedes Turnips, Parsnips, etc. Chestnuts have arrived, and are EXCELLENT. Custard apple has begun this week. Tomatoes are still a little pricey, but price is stable. Broccoli prices are still strong. Celery is STILL very expensive. Avocados HASS Avocado are back in season, and price should remain stable. Supermarkets are expensive, and selling small fruit, right now. Pink Lady Apples have also taken a price hit, and are still costing around $70 per box to BUY!! Corn is very much on the rise, but will come back in price by mid April. Cauliflower has come back in price this week, but still pricey Beans are still VERY expensive. Eggs have also risen sharply in the last few months, as demand is VERY high right now. Herbs have come back in price, but the quality is still not great, IMO. Lettuce have come back, but back up in price also will rise for up to 8 weeks due to the NSW (Hay region) quality shortage. We will notice potatoes increase in price in the next 2 months and will remain high for a few months after that. I hope this is helpful, and I wish you all a fantastic day ahead.
