25.01.2022 Like many of our Grand Seiko exquisite dials, one of the ways in which Grand Seiko extends our respect and preserved the art of traditional watchmaking and handcrafts, is by the methods our beautiful dials are being created. The Kirazuri painting technique was applied in the construction of this elegant dial to give depth and texture on this JDM boutique exclusive reference, Grand Seiko Heritage, SBGA364 which resembles the cracked surface of a frozen pond in the early mornin...gfrosty. Kirazuri () is a method using mica powder, or (kira) to add sparkle and texture in the background of traditional paintings in Japan. 05.01.2022 Today I would like to showcase the SBGH205, a watch for all occasions with an array of hidden beauty. This is a timepiece that until picked up cannot be truly appreciated. Grand Seiko is well know for pulling inspiration from its natural surroundings and this timepiece is no exception. At first glance the reference appears to have a standard black dial but look a little closer and you will notice the dial starts to come alive as it reveals its stunning Mt Iwate design.... Inspired by the many ridged contours of Mount Iwate, the mountain is seen through the windows of the Shizuku-Ishi watch studio where Grand Seiko mechanical watchmakers work from. The dial features a brushed design almost resembling the snow that falls on top of the mountain. Under the light is where this piece truly comes alive. You will see the black of this dial shift to a golden dark greenish brown depending on the light. It has all the shine, polish and quality of any other Grand Seiko dials but the pattern is truly mesmerising and will lineage the wearer gazing for hours on end.
