04.01.2022 Dear Melbourne, The excitement is palpable! Every single person in Victoria and especially Metro Melbourne is absolutely jonesin’ to get out and visit their fav...ourite café, bar, restaurant, pub etc. As part of that industry, I can categorically say that we are bloody excited to be able to have you all back. Yesterday as the announcement was made and the restrictions on hospitality began to be explained, venue’s booking systems opened up for the first time in months. Many venues reached full capacity for the next little period very quickly. While this is extremely exciting, I wanted to take the time to explain just how important it is for you to make sure you fulfill your booking. Some people may have made speculative bookings hoping that their mates would join. Whilst this is always encouraged, it is crucial to these venues that you show up. These venues will staff and order stock according to their limited bookings. They will plan to accommodate as many people as they possibly can. If you cancel at the last minute that venue runs the risk of not being able to fill the space left by your booking. Those that wanted to book but could not because of your booking are likely to have made alternative arrangements. You have now left this business without your attendance and your financial support. Many of these businesses are on the verge of financial collapse as it is, some literally scraping to make it to this point. Your no show could potentially sink a business right now. I know that is a lot of emotionally charged words but it is fact. So here it is PLEASE SHOW UP TO YOUR BOOKINGS! If you cannot show up, please cancel as soon as possible! If we are to get our city rebuilt, if we are to restore its vibrant heart beat it is essential that we book, we show up, we support! Be patient with your hospitality staff, some haven’t worked in 7+ months. Some businesses have not even operated at all. So please, if you have a sub-par experience, speak with management or owners and explain your experience in a calm manner. I implore you to not write negative reviews about businesses on Google or whatever other review platform you find the need to vent on. Be positive. Be supportive. Now more than ever as Melbournians we are all in this together. Let’s get our amazing city back on track. Lets make Melbourne the most liveable city in the world and lets have an amazing and safe time doing it! We’ve got this! Love Jimmy Photo: Samuel Ross Easey's
