25.01.2022 ****2nd XI - B TURF VIRTUAL PRESENTATION***** Our B Turf Team had a strong season despite several matches being abandoned due to indifferent weather conditions. Despite the challenges the weather presented, the team made a late charge to finals, narrowly missing the final day on the final day of the season after opposition outright results in the final round. The side boasted a mix of youth and experience as several of our young and talented players graduated from the club 3...rd XI this season, whilst others pushed for senior selection. The evergreen Matthew Frew was again the B Turf's strongest performer with the bat, whilst young Reyann Farooq claimed the bowling aggregate award after snaring 15 wickets in the final match of the season, claiming 9 wickets in the second innings. A truly remarkable feat which will be etched in the club's rich history. The B Turf's standout and most consistent performer throughout the season was 16 year old Brodie Holden who claimed the Trevor Jury Medal as Club Champion. Brodie was outstanding as he continued to develop and improve in his second year of turf cricket. Brodie should be commended for his work ethic and showing maturity beyond his years saw him lead the 2nd XI attack throughout the season, We look forward to seeing several of our B Turf Players return next season and hope that the continued development of several young players can lead to a finals appearance in 2020/21. #GoGU

20.01.2022 *****1st XI - A TURF VIRTUAL PRESENTATION***** The Club's 2019/20 A Turf Team carried on the rich and successful tradition at Grand United of winning A Turf Premierships by defeating St.Andrews on first innings in a COVID-19 shortened Grand Final. Battling significant weather interruptions throughout the season; the club were able to secure a top 2 finish and a home finals series. A vital cog in the Grand United engine room was wicket keeper-batsman Nilan Fernando who led the... side and competition in runs. Nilan was the very deserving winnier of the Stan Mielczarek Medal and finished runners up in the competition best and fairest award. Opening bowler Ben Doll again led the Grand United attack with 28 wickets finishing 3rd in the competition for wickets - an outstanding effort for the 17 Year-Old. Ben was supported by all rounder Asher Warnakoolsuriya who performed strongly with bat and ball, whilst Milorad Konjevic & Wayne Donaldson made vital contributiuons with ball in hand late in the season and within the finals series. In the Grand Final, the club easily accounted for St.Andrews after posting a competitive 218, masterfully guided by Shayne Comensoli who resurrected the Grand United innings with a well made 58. With the ball in hand, the Grand United bowlers led a strong performance from start to finish dismissing St.Andrews for 91 with Milorad Konjevic claiming 4/2 and Wayne Donaldson 2/14. Despite losing some early wickets in the second innings Grand United led by over 170 runs with Cameron Howitt 31 not out prior to COVID-19 causing a premature end to the Grand Final. The club congratulates all the players, in particular those who join an illustrious list of Grand United A Turf Premiership Players for the first time,. The club also acknowledges the contribution of Dillon Hinge as captain/coach, thank his father Wayne for meticulously completing the scoring each week and thank all the volunteers who assisted with hosting the finals series.
