25.01.2022 In 1991 kickboxer Grant Barker was knocked out by a big Queenslander named Mitch OHella. Two days later Grant asked me if I could help him restore his ambitio...us pathway to become a world champ. No easy feat, but challenge accepted! The plan was swiftly in place. Former World Champion Michael Spinks would be responsible for all the technical aspects of kickboxing. I would be responsible for the physical and mental preparedness to cope with the training and epic battles to come. From that day onwards Grants training changed, the jogging was gone and everything revolved around building speed and power. Power is the product of both speed and strength, and Grant would have it in bucketloads! For the next two years we would train together almost every day. Grant would develop the ability to produce as much power in the last round of a fight as he could in the first round, and opponent after opponent would fall. Grant had what I call the Lazarus Factor, the ability to take an insurmountable amount of punishment and yet from somewhere, somehow, come back from the dead! He would need that ability, because things were about to get tough. In our time together he didnt lose a single fight, and in a rematch big Queenslander OHella was among the many who would get knocked out along the way. In 1992 Grant secured a world title fight and my job was done. Stan Longinidis had the belt, however in his first challenge Grant would lose against the much more experienced opponent. In the following years Grant continued without me, using the same methods he would become a two-time world champ! We still remain good friends and catch up regularly. 25.01.2022 Its true that hormonal shifts as we age can change the way our bodies process and store fat, but fat accumulation mainly happens as a response to inactivity and poor diet, regardless of age. To combat weight gain as we get older, we can do two things that make a difference; Get of your arse and train consistently and stop drinking and eating shit. If you can do that and maintain your muscle mass, youll have a great chance of staying healthy Its not fucking rocket science. Cheers Bomber

19.01.2022 THE 7 PRINCIPLES OF TRAINING WITH A CHAMPION MINDSET Principle 1... 1. CHAMPIONS STAY FOCUSED What is your end goal? This is the most important question you need to ask yourself before starting any training program. What is your end goal, and how important is it to you to achieve it? Take a few minutes to rate on a scale of 1-10 (10 being the absolute highest importance, above all other things) - how important is it to you to achieve your goal? If you scored anything less than a 10, you are not ready to train with a Champion Mindset. This might sound like a harsh way to begin, but this is the most important measurement for your future success. You need to be rating a 10/10 before we even start. You have to want to achieve your goal above all things. Only this way will you be able to give your goal 100% of the focus that it needs. If you gave yourself a 9 or less - keep reading. Identify why you are not yet at a 10/10. Perhaps by the end of this e-book you will be. Champion mindset needs 100%. If you gave yourself a 10/10 - CONGRATULATIONS. You are ready. Focus on your goal and attack it with tunnel vision. There will be things daily that will easily throw you off course, you need to plan for these and create a plan of action that will help you stay on the course when life throws up distractions. Believe it or not there will even be people that will tell you it can’t be done or that you are wasting your time. Rely 100% on your own resolve and commitment, and surround yourself with people that will support your journey and help you stay focused on your end goal, whether that be winning a world champion fight, running a marathon, or losing 10kg - this is your fight and that goal is your focus. Training every day is a way of life for me. Pushing my body to its physical limit is the way I like to train, and I do not shrink away from training hard even though it is not considered the "norm" for men my age. Stopping has never been an option. . Age is just a number and unfortunately we sometimes let that num...ber dictate what we are capable of. So don't ask me when I'm going to stop - the answer is never. . This is not rocket science - as a nation we need to move more! We've taught ourselves to drive everywhere, sit all day then again all evening at home. We are a soft society - we love things to be easy and convenient. . But if your'e out of shape and not able to enjoy life then what's the point. Change is hard but health and fitness is way more convenient than chronic disease and immobility. . Forget why you stopped. Find the reason to start again. No one else is responsible for this but you. . You do not need a fancy gym membership or a sports watch or expensive shoes. 07.01.2022 As you get older, what do you value in life? . The corporate career, the bigger house, the faster car, the overseas holiday? .Problem is those things can disappear in a flash. And I'm not a doctor but I've trained guys who's corporate job is probably killing them. They're stressed to the max to pay the mortgage on the house, support their lifestyle, the holidays that add 5kgs each time. We need to get real. How about placing value on feeling healthy, awake, energised, strong,... powerful and in control. .Training is not a punishment for how long you sat, what you ate, drank etc. It should be a celebration of feeling bloody great about yourself, and being able to push a sled or lift a bar until your heart thumps out of your fucking chest. .Getting older is a lame excuse we tell ourselves so that we can stop trying to be fit. Being too busy is a load of shit. It comes down to choices, and placing value on your fitness. No one has a choice about getting older, only a choice in how well we age. .Take time to re-evaluate, make changes, take action. It's simple. Start today and stop talking shit to your self. What's not OK is failing to take action and making a commitment to your health and fitness, and busting through anything holding you back. Do you think that one day things will get easier? Do you tell yourself 'I'll lose the weight one day'? That one day you will be the fit healthy person you know you want to be, and can be?
