21.01.2022 P L U T O This beautiful little man was in last month for a check up with Dr Renee! He was loving the cat scratching post that we have set up in our cat only consultation room.... We let our patients roam freely in the consult room so they can feel a little more comfortable and get used to their surroundings. We hope this reduces the stress of coming to visit but we think it worked a treat for little Pluto. Have a chat to our friendly staff to see if there is anything else we can do to reduce the stress of vet visits for your and your furry family

17.01.2022 GRATITUDE POST Sometimes we are just blown away with the dedication and support we receive from our community so we wanted to share Empoleans story wit...h you all. 6 month old Empolean arrived at Cat Haven a little while ago and was quickly sent to a foster home due to not coping well in the shelter environment. It was soon noticed by his foster carer that he was having issues with one his back legs while he was playing, so he went for an X-Ray to further investigate. It was found on the X-Ray that he had a fracture from an old injury and it was going to be quite costly to repair, so his wonderful foster family kindly offered to start a Go Fund Me to raise the funds to get the surgery he needed. The fundraising goal was reached and Empolean was booked in with our friends Grantham Street Veterinary Clinic who did a wonderful job of repairing his leg and also performed some additional dental treatment that he needed. Empolean is now recovering well in foster care after his big operation and we are so thankful to everyone involved who gave this beautiful boy the care, treatment and love he so deserves. Every Cat Matters

14.01.2022 PARVO ALERT: there have been several confirmed cases of Parvovirus in dogs around the Warwick, Malaga & Mirrabooka areas. This virus is a highly infectious disease that typically affects puppies & unvaccinated dogs, but can also affect any adult dog whos immunity has waned. Parvo works by attacking the bone marrow & delicate lining of the intestinal tract, resulting in immune suppression & severe gastrointestinal signs, which can be fatal. Dogs can present with ...one or more of the following: - Severe diarrhoea, often haemorrhagic - Severe vomiting - Lethargy - Loss of appetite - Fever - Weight loss This virus is extremely hardy, surviving for long periods of time in the environment. It is transmitted in the faeces of infected dogs which makes it incredibly difficult to prevent your dog from coming in contact with it, especially when on walks to the park or beach. It can easily be spread on the paws of dogs, peoples shoes or clothes, as well as items contaminated with the virus, like bedding, toys or bowls. Fortunately the vaccine for this virus is highly effective & the best way to protect your dog from becoming infected. We would like to remind our clients & the community to check your dogs vaccination records & urge you to book in for a consult if they are overdue. If you notice any of the clinical signs listed above or would like to check to see if your dog is due for their vaccine, please dont hesitate to get in contact with our team on 9387 2144. For further information on the recent cases, follow this link: www.perthnow.com.au//vets-warning-after-confirmed-canine-p

09.01.2022 To our great community. We are back to the "COVID normal" systems this morning. That means we are: -requiring you to sign in, sanitise your hands and wear a mask -sending you reminder text messages prior to your visit -admitting grooms and surgery cases via our "barn" doors -enforcing the 4 sqm obligation which means only one person per pet allowed in the consult room... We appreciate this is difficult - particularly trying to communicate effectively with dreaded masks on, but we have all done this before, and we greatly appreciate the patience and understanding shown by you all. Please know we are all smiling behind ours. See more
