Due to the current health circumstances we have cut our ticket selling short but still managed to raise $133 in a week for Mission Australia, a charity that helps support disadvantaged children and families in Australia. 21.01.2022 Congratulations to Dr Bron and her lovely dog Treacle, who passed their exam last week and are now official Story Dog heroes. Story Dogs is a literacy programme here in Australia and involves specially trained dogs and their handlers going into schools and assisting children with reading difficulties. For more information, follow this link -https://www.storydogs.org.au/

21.01.2022 Story Dogs News Wembley Primary School is very excited to have a new regular visitor to our school to help our students with their reading. Bron and Treacle will be visiting every Friday from September 13th to help our Year 2 classes with their reading. The Story Dogs program partners with the classroom teachers to help students with their reading. Bron and Treacle will help the same 4 5 students each week. The students will come out of their classroom and sit one-on-...one with Bron and Treacle and read to Treacle. Treacle loves to listen and will not mind if the student makes a few mistakes, she just wants to have a fun time so that books and reading become a joyful experience. Treacle is a Cavoodle who loves people, camping, bush-walking and having her head out the car window savoring all the good smells. Treacle has been practicing at home with her new reading rug and books so that she will be ready to help the students. She is super excited about starting. If you are interested in volunteering in this rewarding program, please contact Amanda on [email protected] Welcome Bron & Treacle See more

14.01.2022 Dr Bron has provided us with a picture of her Storydog Treacle, in her graduation outfit! The Dymocks/StoryDog 4 for 1 offer continues in December so please click on the link - https://www.givenow.com.au/4for1books_dcc - to make a donation to help make a difference. When children read to a dog, the outcomes are amazing! It is a non-judgmental setting, the childrens focus improves, their literacy skills increase and their confidence soars. The accepting, loving nature of dogs gives this program its magic and helps children relax, open up, try harder and have fun while reading to a friendly, calm dog.
