07.01.2022 The subtle art of giving an interview
04.01.2022 The next ‘season’ of our streamed trivia shows is about to begin, and we’re kicking it off with a massive 50 question Disney x Pixar trivia this Friday night. It was a trip down memory lane putting this deck together! I’ve attached a video of something we were working on last week! Why? Well, this is weird thing to say (and I wouldn’t hold it against you if you don’t believe me) but putting on these shows takes a surprising amount of physical energy. To keep people engaged fr...om the confines of a tiny square box in the bottom corner of the screen is kind of a lot. Sometimes we have 6 shows in a week! By Sunday my jaw can feel like it’s going to wear off. One thing that takes a wild amount of energy is running through the rules and caveats at the start of each show. Our wonderful regulars don’t need to hear any of it, but we have to cover it all in as much detail as possible for the newbies - without which we wouldn’t survive! So the thought was: What if we pre-recorded some of those sections? What if the heavily repeated portions played out as pre-roll, and then when the ‘live’ portion happens I can focus on the subject matter without having blown so much breath on catching people up? WELL! The attached video is an abandoned concept, but I thought it might be fun for you to see what we tried to do, if only because Aspen is so cute in it. He’d been doing his own thing all morning, but the moment we went to record he had to get involved. Involved to the point of casually punching me in the face. I was trying to keep from laughing the whole time. This weekend we have some colourful new opening banners to help people understand what the deal is, and going forward we are working on some animated intro videos to do some heavy lifting for me while we sort people in behind the scenes. Let me know what you think of the idea of having some videos at the start! Love, Camgirl Kev
