22.01.2022 This mural was painted onto a large canvas approximately 4m x 2m. This was a Viking theme and the aim was to create a historically correct mural. We knew the portrait of the Viking would benefit from having a dirtier, rugged appearance to help provide an insight to the Vikings of the Middle ages. Not many Viking longships have been recovered although historians believe the colour of the sails on these ships may have been red & white, representing the colours of blood & bone. In doing so, would act as a terrifying sight for villages of people who were soon to be conquered. The same could be said for the reasons behind the dragon, or snake head which were commonly sculpted onto the front of these Viking longships
