25.01.2022 All turf has grubs its not a bad thing in healthy turf , if your turf is healthy your turf will out compete the grub , keep your turf healthy use correct soil and correct cutting heights and grub wont be a problem

25.01.2022 What was I doing today - planting 100 eucalyptus trees when I plant these trees I use a planting technique developed by Bill hicks in which its called long stem planting . This technique is when you plant the tube stock trees deep into the ground 500-800 deep this technique develops better roots system and a stronger tree the growth rate is quicker and the plant establishes its self far quicker than your conventional planting

24.01.2022 Gday all just letting you all know I’m still away travelling Europe , not due back till the July 7th

24.01.2022 If you’ve got a thatch issue going on, it’s a great over the next month to get in a couple of low-mows in the other best time of year is at the end of spring. A study carried out by the University of Western Australia a few years’ ago, compared different types of renovation for turf and they found that the results from a ‘hard-mow’ or ‘scalping’ was just as good as scarifying, coring, or grooming when it came to dethatching a lawn. This should only be done a couple of times a... year and works only for warm-season grasses (Buffalo, Kikuyu, Couch and Zoysia) and should be avoided for cool-season types fescue and the likes as this practice will probably spell the end of your lawn. If your lawn feels ‘spongy’ to walk on then it may be time for such drastic action, but keep in mind that for much of the country you’ve only got a few weeks to ‘get-stuck-into-it’ before it starts to cool off and your lawn doesn’t grow. Attempt it too late and your lawn won’t recover over winter, so if you’re unsure, contact Us See more

16.01.2022 Great way to use a organic alternative in your garden instead of the chemicals

16.01.2022 At GrassMaster we never lay turf on top of lawn mix soil , As you can see on this job we did in Yanchep . (1) First we mix clay into your existing coastal sand ( this helps for better water holding capabilities and stops hydrophobic soil . (2) we add organic soil mixed in with more clay and zeolite rock with crush basalt then mix all this in to the existing sand . (3) roll on some nice turf Saphirre soft leaf buffalo is what we use a quality lawn . Now you see what sets us apart from all others we dont take short cuts and save on quality. We know that in Perths coastal sand this is what is needed to grow lawn to the healthiest it can be . Let the soil feed the lawn , no more waisted products using wetting agents . To keep your lawn alive .

15.01.2022 The Grass masters turf & garden Guide post to companion planting: It works in several ways but just offers plants a community to support one another by allowing symbiotic relationships between the plants. When creating an organic garden, we want to try as closely as possible to recreate the natural environment that mother nature intended, so companion planting is just a replica of this. Also, some plants have different nutritional requirements and demands on the soil, companion planting can offer benefit on many levels,

06.01.2022 Mowing at the correct height - mowing at the correct height is very important in the health of your turf , and the height should be adjusted to the variety of turf you are growing eg.. couch , buffalo or Zoysia . When cutting your lawn its important to cut the lawn at the correct height because turf need its leaf to shade it stolons and be able to use its leaf to collect energy from sunlight through photosynthesis. The photosynthesizing chlorophyll in the leaf gives grass ...its green color.. When cutting your lawn you should be looking at these heights *Soft leaf buffalo ( saphirre, palmetto , sir Walter ... ect ) 30-50mm * kikuyu 30-50mm * Zoysia 10-50mm * couch 10-30mm Using these recommended heights and cutting your lawn with sharp blades and using the 1 third rule . Youll be having a much healthier lawn

02.01.2022 Garden clean up , today amazing how clearing weeds can make a big change to the garden

01.01.2022 Ive been getting a few private Message asking what is actually deep long stem planting from my last post on the eucalyptus trees I planted if going to do this please make sure your plants arent grafted we dont want to bury graft s, The long-stem planting method is an innovative way of planting that can result in higher survival and growth rates with minimal post-planting care. Using the long-stem method, seedlings are grown in pots for 10-18 months, so that they develop ...long woody stems. These seedlings are then planted with about three- quarters of their length below the soil surface, approximately 1 metre deep, which results in much of the woody stem being covered with soil. The deep planting protects the roots from substantial changes in soil temperature, allows the plant access to deeper soil moisture and reduces competition from weeds. Once planted, the seedling develops roots from the buried stem and leaf nodes. This promotes the development of a robust root network which gives the seedling a greater chance of survival. See more
