25.01.2022 Need more machinery !
24.01.2022 Hi Fellow Grassmere Fire Bridgade members & The Grassmere Community. Just some things for us to discuss and think about and act on where possible. I know there will be some uncertainty around the Coronavirus and how it impacts us in daily life etc and the ever changing levels of safety associated with it. ... We the Grassmere Fire Bridgade are an emergency response unit and we are on call 24/7 and will always be. Things I ask us to do is to be aware of our current health. If you are unwell or are in isolation please remember you are not required to respond to an emergency. We will have enough others capable of filling our requirements for call outs. Last thing we want to do is risk possibly transferring any illness onto others. During this time we can still communicate over phone etc and I encourage all of us to keep in regular phone contact with Family, friends and neighbours. This will allow us to not only keep lines of communication open but allow us to check on others Physical & Mental well being and be able to identify & assist others who may require help or assistance, Especially the elderly. I also would like to remind us to keep our fire pages on and make sure they have charged batteries in them. I also ask that we as fire brigade members also pass this info onto others in our community. (Feel free to copy and paste.) If in the event that we do end up in a lock down situation. Isolation could be scary at times and it will be reassuring that our neighbours & our Grassmere community has each others back and we are always there to assist in an appropriate manner. For those who dont already have the Vic Emergency app then I suggest its good to have it on your smart phone. It also gives us updates of all types of emergencies warnings. Last thing to note is that we are currently going through a changing environment at the moment and we all need to adapt and adjust. If you have any thoughts on how we can do things better or things that need to be noted please feel free to share these ideas with me or other members of the community. We are all in this together. Stay safe my fellow Grassmere Friends and look out for each other. Regards Grassmere FB captain John Houston 0438654244

02.01.2022 Just incase anyone is worried about the smoke in the area, it will be caused by a smoke combination from the Mount ECCLES, hotspur and south Australian fires. The Vic Emergency app is a good one to down load on your smartphone if you dont already have it. It has up to date reports on fires and you can set your own watch zones and receive notifications of any activity in that zone. Im happy to help people set up app if needed. ... While we are thinking and praying for all people in our country that are facing horrendous Fire conditions, its also a good time to make sure we and our families have an up to date fire plan if there is a fire in our area over summer. We could even do a community response enactment in case of emergency. Please contact me if you would like to talk about it. If we get enough people interested we could hold a meeting/conversation at the fire Station. Also as this group does not have all local people on it, can we please pass this info onto people who would have not received it. Also Im willing to help them discuss their emergency plans or perhaps you can if you feel confident in doing so. Easiest way to pass this info along, is to copy and paste and then send via text.
